Having happily owned a TOMTOM for the last 2 years i jumped ship and updated it with the Garmin 255W. What a difference!!!! The Garmin is light, user friendly and very accurate. Mapping and instructions are excellent as is the satelite coverage. Great value too, just a shame there's no carry case especially as its supposed to be mobile!! Buy this and you'll have no regrets!

the product i received was nothing like what was advertised instead of a Garmin charger i received a generic one. Site needs to make customers aware of this.

The postcode for UK is only 6 characters make it very hard to one that has used 7 postcodes before. 4. Unable to update speed camera locations because the map price is very exorbitant. Received quickly, case is good quality, and tom tom fits snugly inside. The only problem is there is no where to attach the carry strap.

After reading the reviews of others can anyone comment on having tried the Memory Map software on the Garmin Edge 705? Does it integrate well? Does it cope well with off road routes such as cycle paths and canal tow paths? Does it update fast enough - it appears that the supplied sofware lags according to some reviews? And does the battery life live up to promise? I haven't bought one yet but am considering one and getting the Memory Map software for Europe - as I live in France. Thanks to anyone who can post a review with these questions answered.

I had an older model tom-tom which worked well but got stolen. This was a present to replace it and my disappointment in this supposed upgrade is immense. There was a ridiculous amount of farting about getting it activated using a product code to get an item code to get an activation code and so on. Once activated it worked fine....for a day! On it's second outing it just stopped working half way through my journey and hasn't worked since. The device freezes like a microsoft PC and no amount of re-sets can get it up and running. Also in the (albeit) short time it was working the voice distorted due to sub-standard speakers in the reduced size of unit. A frustrating and bitterly disappointing experience. I won't buy a tom-tom again.
