This lens has quality written all over it. It comes with a hard plastic hood for the front and back of the lens which then goes into a sturdy, cloth, draw-string bag for extra protection. When you screw the lens on to your camcorder the difference is very impressive. You get far more of your subject and the surroundings into view; this is especially true for indoor filming when you want to get as much of the room into your shot. When added to the camcorder the difference in the weight and feel is negligible, I certainly have no problems in that respect. It's best to hold your camcorder in a perpendicular stance when attaching the lens, and then to gently rotate the lens into the thread of the camcorder until you feel it lock. There is no need ... As I was buying a complete new camera, Sony Cyber-shot WSC50, I followed the recomendations for accessories and Memory Stick. The Memory Stick should have been 512MB Memory Stick DUO or DUO Pro and not the 512MB Memory Stick Pro

bought one of these after reading the review, very small unit accompanied by sadly very poor light output, hardly made any difference to images, gobbles battery supply like mad, returning for refund as doesn't do whats claimed

The Sony range of semi-pro HDV camcorders are excellent with one minor niggle - the supplied batteries don't give you much more than a couple of hours (As tested on a Sony HDR-FX7 and an HDR-FX1). The solution is to purchase the NPF970 6600mAh long life battery. Using Sony NPF970 batteries I was able to run FX7 for 480 minutes record time and 660 playback. The additional weight of this higher capacity battery doesn't destabilize the camera much if at all, and it is light enough to still allow you to go hand held without having your arms go dead halfway through that crucial shot. If you are serious about your camcorder usage and your digital video get one of these for your Sony HDR-FX1/FX7/Z1. Better yet, get two and have enough juice ... Read More:

When buying, buy directly from Amazon. It seems the third party sellers are selling fakes. Fakes have slower read/write speeds, don't hold the full 4GB and can corrupt data. Do yourself a favour and buy from Amazon directly not a third party seller or you're likely to get conned.
