As with all Logitech products these are well build and solid bits of kit.. the design is nice and both the mouse and the keyboard look good and feel good to the touch

I would agree with the reviews above that the space bar feels a little odd and the RH shift key is very small.. but once you get over this I feel that these are really not major issues....

Great product for a really great price

Having read the previous reviews which show that people either love or hate this mouse, I can safely say that I fit into the former. The first one I purchased was to be used for gaming, but since then I have bought a further three for work after being so impressed with the comfort and ease of handling.
Software issues? Never had a problem as I always upgrade the software after installing originally from the enclosed cdrom. If I were to have any critism, it would only that it is really designed for a right handed person only, otherwise I can't fault it.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and love using it. It's a little on the expensive side, but since I bought it to ease RSI problems, it has certainly been worth it for me. It *does* work on Vista to an extent - at least for me it does. The ball, scroll wheel and three buttons work without any additional software. The problem is that the software that allows you to program the buttons and adjust the scroll speed, etc is not fully supported on Vista. Apparently if you use it with a PS-2 connection rather than USB, the software works, but I haven't tried this.

The ball is a decent size meaning that you are not scrunching your hand around a mouse, but instead have your palm open over the trackball. The rest makes it more comfortable ... Read More:

Average mouse with basic functions. Please note, however, when using this mouse on an Apple, the included Logitech software screws up your dock and exposé settings. To a point were the mouse becomes totally uncontrollable.

It's a shame that these bugs are known to Logitech for years, and still they fail to offer a solution. I had to use 3rd party drivers called USB Overdrive to get these basic functions back to work.

The driver for this mouse has issues. It kept restarting my computer. I downloaded and installed the new driver from Trust website earlier this evening and so far it's been working well. Otherwise, it looks good, has an ergonomic shape and works well.
Update: although it might work well with XP, even with the latest driver it frequently freezez with Vista. when I downloaded the latest driver and installed it, the driver immediately down-graded Vista's colour setting - you may not feel the difference, but something to be aware of. Defenitely not recommended for using with Vista!

Have to agree with the above review that this mouse is worth the money. It's very high quality and really nice to use. Unlike the V150 (wired, lazer) which I also own, the lazer in the V550 works perfectly on all surfaces, including materials, and tracks exceptionally smoothly with no pointer jumping. I've also noticed virtually no lag due to the mouse being wireless. The wireless range seems really good, it was still working just as well from 2 metres, and that wireless receiver is so discreet.

One thing you may not know is the scroll wheel doesn't work as a third button, it does click in, but just to switch between smooth and notched mode, it doesn't count as a middle button click and cannot be set to do so. However there is an additional button ... Read More:

Be careful - contrary to reviews, there is a lag with both the keyboard and mouse, the keyboard is clunky, and the mouse is heavy and imprecise. definitely NOT a pleasure to use. i would not buy these again and in fact am going to buy a new keyboard and mouse because i cannot work efficiently with the unresponsiveness.

(i'm using this under linux, but most of the comments will apply to windows also)

this is a good quality usb laser mouse with a scroll wheel (+ wheel button) and 2 extra buttons. The 2 extra buttons are arranged vertically under the wheel. They have good placement and can be pressed without looking at the mouse.

the main interest for me is that the mouse works very well in linux. by default in linux it's easy to click the wheel button by mistake, leading to a "paste" operation. causes me no end of grief. anyway, the top of the extra buttons can be remapped to the middle click in linux, avoiding the problem nicely (the top arrow button maps to button 9 in linux, and the bottom one maps to button 8). And because the extra buttons are placed under ... Read More:
