This is a cool piece of technology. Its small, slim and has an excellent display.Pictures are excellent.I have not experienced any scratches yet unlike some other reviews.Would of been 5 stars but for the battery life(which is not 14 hours as stated).I get up to 10 hours maximum. Also would of been nice of apple to supply an AC adaptor so I could charge the ipod from the mains rather than having to charge it through my computer.

This device is simple. If you want an all-singing [pun intended], all dancing device, then this is not for you.

On the other hand, if you want something that plays music, and is easy to use, then this is wonderful!!

I have just joined the gym, and my phone was too bulky as an MP3. I was looking at either the Apple or Creative equiv. I knew I wanted a display, which ruled out the Shuffle. And reviews for the Sansa Clip were pretty excellent across the board.

Pros:
It's tiny
It's simple to use - the Menu button is very useful
The sound is great
The screen is clear
The fact that it treats audio books differently to play lists

Cons:
The earphones aren't the best, but ... Read More:

I bought one of these about six months ago, and it's great. It charges through my PC no problem, dragging music files into is simple. It also charges and plays through my hifi through the USB connection. If feels good, like a small slim mobile phone, and I like the stainless steel back. I wanted to get more memory and a longer battery time, so I was really pleased when I saw the Philips SA2840 on Amazon, with 4Gb and 20 hours battery time. But it did not connect to my PC or hifi! Neither did the replacement! (see my review under that product). A bit like the review above.

I bought this to replace my ageing iPod. It was the 52 hours battery life that made me buy this, and the excellent reviews for sound quality, and range of formats.

The player itself feels nice and solid, and is well built. It's about 2cm thick, but easily fits into your pocket. The 52 hour battery life is pretty impressive. You can go for weeks without having to recharge the player. The display is sharp and clear, and syncing with a PC is easy. The sound quality is also far superior to my old iPod, even with my Shure earphones.

However, it does have some poor points:

The player does not readily play .m4a files. Most players, including other iaudio models, play .m4a files so why doesn't this one? You can rename your ... Read More:

Firstly, the most important thing when considering buying an mp3 player...what does it sound like? This player is without doubt the best sounding mp3 player on the market. The supplied in-ear headphones are excellent and manage to provide truly exceptional sound with a lot of bass. The also supplied bluetooth headphones, while not sounding as good as the in-ear, are still very good in their own right.

The player looks and feels great. While the player may not include extras that some other do, i.e f.m radio, playlists on the go (they have to be created on computer and downloaded onto player), what it does do it does very well. The menu's are all very intuitive and it is easy to navigate around the various functions of the player.

Out of the box this looks great, though the positioning of the earphone socket & controls are a bit odd. The sound and video quality based on the installed samples seemed pretty good. But that was as far as I got.

Despite trying 2 different PCs both of which matched the suggested spec, and dowloading various drivers and utilities from the Phillips website, I could not get Windows XP to recognise it. So back it went to the supplier, and I am now down the cost of the hefty postage charges. Reading around on the web this seems to be a not uncommon problem with these players - shame - I was quite excited when I opened the box.
