Electronics : ION - iTT USB Turntable

Well, having read the good and poor reviews about this product, I have to say, all I can give is full marks to the turntable. It is a full size turntable, (which is rare even these days), a belt driven turntable for low rumble and the turntable itself has a high torque, which handles albums perfect, and the test for high torque is of course to see how much the belt slips. This one was perfect.
Setting up was a cinch, plug in the USB plug, install the Audacity software, (by the way the turntable also has phono plugs to play your records on a normal hi fi system - great extra!)
Once audacity is setup, just a few tweaks to the software itself, to change it from the default MONO recording, to STEREO recording, and then search for the ... Read More:

12.Sony Hi-MD 1GB Blank Minidisc from: Sony

I have a HD mini disk bought from Amazon very cheap £60 for the 900 model I like MD but not so keen on Sony these days, software, DRM etc. So 4* for the MD and 1 gig disk.

Like the other review watch out for the EBay type sellers here £0.45p is not the cost, they actually charge £5 delivery for EACH disk, no discount for multi purchase.
Get these seller off Amazon they should be made to advertise correctly for the full price or limit the maximum delivery by true postage costs smells like a con.

HiMD is perfect for portable audio. The sound quality is excellent, with even the cheaper players beating any MP3 player produced to date. Less susceptible to shocks or drops than HD players & with removable batteries they last a LOT longer than your average iPod. The comparatively lower capacity can be a downside but what good is it to have all your music with you when it all sounds rubbish because it's being played on sub-standard equipment???

HI-MD recorder/players can take discs of 1GB capacity, greater than that of a lot of similarly priced MP3 players. They're powered an AA battery so you don't have to worry about a built in lithium ion one running dry miles from a possible recharge. Tracks can be transferred from PC to media in minutes via USB cable. Most importantly the sound quality is good even on highest compression file type. HI minidiscs can be purchased through Amazon or on eBay. Sadly the technology is now 'obselete', people being seduced by the stupidly small and supposedly 'convenient' MP3 players. My advice, snap up one of these MZ-NH600 whilst you still can!

15.ION LP DOCK USB Turntable with Universal Dock for iPod from: Ion

Electronics : ION LP DOCK USB Turntable with Universal Dock for iPod
The turntable really does what it says on the tin - it turns your vinyl into MP3 files for import onto an iPod, but boy do you have to go through some hoops to get there. If you have accumulated vinyl from your days at university in the 60's and 70's, then forget getting track names from gracenote. This utility is patchy at the best, and if you have classic music albums, eg beethovens Violin concerto, then forget the various parts to whole piece ie the Allegro, andante con molto, gracenote gets it as the title of the first piece, and as classical recordings tend not to have deliniated tracks, but fade into each other, then one has to go into iTunes and insert the names manually.
Or if you have a pop album but don't want all the tracks, you have to stop the turntable between ... Read More:

This player is a great piece of kit. BUT when I very first received it I was more than a little worried. It wouldn't load nevermind play any of my discs. Having said that, I left it alone for 24 hrs and since then its been perfect. The sound quality, in stereo and mono, is great. The playback options give you lot of scope and the controls are very easy and fuctional to use.
