I've had one of these and two other Lacie drives die on me - completely and suddenly, making noises and with scarily flickering light but refusing to mount - and only a few months out of warranty. In the same period I have other drives, Formacs, run fine. I'd give Lacie no stars if I could. It doesn't mean that all Lacies are bad, just means that you too could have the same experience. Beware!

I work proffesionally with images and the need for automatic RAID is essential to me. I have previously had two seperate disks from Lacie, at any time connected to my PC and manually copied 'backup files' and it was always a concern whether or not I had everything on two disks. This disk takes all that worry away. The 1TB is actually two 500gb disks. You can use this disk either without RAID as 1TB of storage OR use it with RAID ant the disk will appear as 500gb of storage as you can only see one of the two disks, the second disk is automatically mirrored. Should one HD fail (and appearantly they do sometimes) you can retrieve the data from the other disk. As far as I can see (but I haven't tried it) it is possible to remove the disks from the ...
