This radio looks and sounds great. But the clock, self-setting digitally, is NOT UP TO SCRATCH! Three minutes behind most of the time. A common or garden cuckoo clock can do better! I bought this item for radio alarm, so disappointing. Also, the sleep mode began to malfunction after a couple of weeks - diagnosed as "Hardware issue". Had to return radio to Pure for a replacement. Pure's Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired.

I bought my system from Dixons on line because, at that time, they had the best price. The price at Amazon has come down now so, with free delivery, Amazon is your best place to buy. My old CD player had started to 'slip' so I expected to get a new CD player with a 3 CD changer and DAB radio, with a USB port for playing MP3s. Easy - so I thought. What a surprise to discover that such a system no longer existed. I could have bought all of the above without the 3 CD changer, but that wasn't what I wanted. So, in my initial search, I ended up at the Sony shop at Merry Hill and discovered that the trend nowadays is to have a hard drive in your music system. What a great idea - and what a huge price! I was looking for an alarm clock and an ipod speaker stand - saw this and thought I'd combine the two! The unit works straight out the box and set up is a doddle, the speaker is on a scale of 1 (soft) - 40 (mental) and the system is a nice piano black with a nice and bright face (4 settings) that can be turned off or light up the room bright. It has 2 alarms so you can set one for you and one for someone else, and you can wake to the radio/buzzer/ipod. If you want to wake up to the ipod you must leave it plugged in - in play mode. It will also charge your ipod whilst it is docked. It has various adaptors that will fit virtually any ipod (even my 3rd generation nano which it says its doesn't!) and a aerial for the radio. Ordered for my iPod touch 2nd Gen to get better, louder sound than the puny unbuilt speaker delivers. A waste of time - the iblock does not mute the internal speaker and does not play any sound either. Totally useless.

The Archos 5 is just so much improved it's hard to fine any fault at all. All Archos products are wonderful but this time they have outdone themselves. A Superb entertainment machine and the screen is so good I watch full movies rather than sit in fron of the TV, As Archos always have said "think snmaller". Just wonderful.

Just a short review to add a few observations about this radio: 1. Its certainly nicely made. I have left mine out in the garden and will be doing so to see if it can survive the weather and live up to its its 'Weatherproof' tag; 2. Only 4 preset buttons is a shame. There appears to be space for six, so it makes one wonder why they didn't add a couple more; 3. The sound is good and, so far, the DAB reception has been fine; 4. The rubber feet on the bottom of the unit mean that one can plonk it down on any surface safely; 5. After pressing the Power button, it takes about five seconds for the broadast to come through. This is a small DAB radio that seems to have all the functionality of larger models. It runs both from the mains via a transformer and on batteries. It has a small but clear display that can show the time, stations, and DAB programme related information simultaneously. Build quality is good and the radio is inexpensive. On the downside, there are only three presets, the radio on FM does not have any RDS functionality, and it's uses batteries quickly whether on DAB or FM. More of concern for me is that the volume cannot be set particularly high - I wanted a DAB when gardening and washing the car. It doesn't quite have the volume for this.
