This system oozes quality, rich deep sound wrapped up in a solidly built case - should last for years. Remote function works well with ipod. Very happy I bought this and not the Bose. Only downside is no radio function which would have been nice.

I bought a pair of these wanting something to watch my DVDs through. The sound is ok but not as loud as I'd have liked it. And then after just over a year they stopped working. I didn't even move them around very much. So I really wouldn't recommend something with such a short shelf life at this price.

I bought this unit because, after 20 years of flawless Dreamachine use, when considering an upgrade to DAB, Sony way my first choice. I like the style of the unit, and the sound of the DAB audio is amazing. I also love the automatic setting of the time, even if it does not sync with the BBC. (To be fair I don't know if this is the unit, the BBC or the time signal being sent over the DAB "airwaves" so I won't blame Sony for that one.)

But I do have some gripes:

1. Like a number of previous reviewers have noted, this thing goes off randomly at midnight, for no apparent reason. I'm going to contact Sony about it to see what they do. My guess, given my recent experience with Sony after-sales service, is that they will do nothing. ... Read More:

USB speakers will never be as loud as their mains-powered counterparts, but these speakers do a very good job from the 5v USB output on your laptop with the bonus of working everywhere.

They are a great idea if you want something that's very portable and guaranteed to be usable even when there is not a mains power supply to hand.

The speakers fit into a small fabric bag for storage (included).

The sound quality is surprising and extremely good up to around 3/4 power, after which you will find that extremes of treble will distort. The bass level is very good for the size of the speaker. As a guide, you can comfortably listen to music and video in a quiet 12ft x 12ft room, but the sound won't overpower a loud conversation ... Read More:

Great little speakers, good sound, wouldn't have paid £70 for them but worth current price (£25) agree case should be big enough to fit mains lead, can be squished in but not designed for it. Bought white then now seems to be a black option in photos , not there when I ordered, don't see an option to choose colour, would have preferred black but need them now so no time to attempt a change.

Biggest gripe, no dock adaptor for ipod nano 2nd gen though that is the ipod featured in the picture on the box (probably to make speakers look bigger?) ipod will stand on plug but should come with adapter as says works with all dockable ipods, grrrrrr.

This device does everything it says on the box, but is best used after a bit of planning to get the best results. I have two of these devices linked over a Devolo mains home networking system (up to 200 mbits). I'm not too interested in the music side as it doesn't support FLAC and I use a Squeezebox system for this.
I run the Divx Connected software from my Quad Core Mesh PC so it runs quickly. However as I have found for a few years now converting files into Divx format (software supplied) can cause some problems.
First of all the Divx files are ever so slightly jerky when played through the DSM-330 - not enough to spoil enjoyment but enough to put you on edge after 3 hours of Ben Hur. This is not a network issue or a PC issue because I've tried it elsewhere ... Read More:

Pros

They are compact and give crystal clear sound. They have an internal battery which is a refreshing change from the zen v travel dock (which they have ceast to make now only £18 months or so into production which is a crying shame) and the creative travel dock which require normal batteries. Also when connected to the power supply it charges both the mp3 player and the onboard battery which is handy.

Cons

Anyone expecting the sound to be anywhere near as good as the zen v travelsound speakers will be disapointed. True enough these speakers are 60 pounds cheaper but i did expect them to be better. Little or no bass at all. No volume control on the speakers, they are governed by the player itself. The speaker stand is a bit pathetic ... Read More:

89.X-MI - X-Mini Capsule Speaker from: X-MI

Electronics : X-MI - X-Mini Capsule Speaker
This is brilliant and so cheap you must buy one! It is really dinky and the sound is very impressive given the size. Now it won't be replacing my stereo but is perfect for sharing sounds or when travelling. Decent volume and bass. I bought it for my MP3 player and also my netbook (which has dreadful sound - so a massive improvement). This is truly portable taking up next to no space in your bag or pocket. The speaker itself is kind of egg sized (but rounder!) and the cable is on a separate compact retractable spindle thing. There is even a neat little drawstring bag to carry it in. Well worth it.

Just received my speakers this morning and they worked straight out of the box. I have to say I am really surprised by how tiny the speakers are. They are much smaller than I expexted. They really look solid and neat like a finished product. However, the sound is average and that makes me say that you get what you pay for. Considering their size and price, I did not expect them to sound brilliant but they are good and acceptable. I like the fact that I just stick them in the USB port and away they go. I do not have to start looking for tiny holes to plug things into. My only gripe is that they do not have the on/off button which I like to have in my speakers. In all, I am pleased with the product and I will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
