I looked at a lot of reviews for this (on Amazon and elsewhere) and plumped for this drive because of its excellent connectivity. I'm a Mac user and Apple seem to be moving away from Firewire towards USB so I wanted to ensure the best of both Worlds. My G5 Mac has Firewire 400 and 800 and I wanted to try the Firewire 800 speed. It is very fast. I copied 160GB in around 2 hours.

The drive itself is small, neat and very quiet; a few clicks here and there but nothing too noticeable, The lights are a bit distracting if the drive is in use a lot like mine but I put it out of direct view and it is fine. The usage guage is useful but the included software on the drive has a drive capacity monitor built in which is more accurate.

I have been using a PDA of some kind for at least 12 years but it is now a dying product. The bottom line is that the IPAQ 214 offers no significant computing advantages over my 3 year old O2 XDA II Smartphone. I have also found that because PDAs are getting less support from the manufacturers I have had problems in getting accessories such as extra stylus pens. Having said this, after a few months use it has worked fine with no need to reset as yet. My only negative comment is that it feels quite delicate in construction and that it would break if dropped (as opposed to my O2 XDA that is built like a tank).

The bottom line is that I can't really recommend PDAs any longer because some of the Smartphone are as good as PDAs, if not better. ... Read More:

I have just had the misfortune to purchase a lacie drive.

After going through the very badly documented set-up procedure, I managed to get it working.

The drive was noisy and slow with poor connectivity response times.

The drive then failed, I sent it back to be repaired (took nearly a month) and now it has been returned in working condition minus all of my backups.

Utter garbage, avoid at all costs.
Terrible customer services too!

I bought a pair of these wanting something to watch my DVDs through. The sound is ok but not as loud as I'd have liked it. And then after just over a year they stopped working. I didn't even move them around very much. So I really wouldn't recommend something with such a short shelf life at this price.

USB speakers will never be as loud as their mains-powered counterparts, but these speakers do a very good job from the 5v USB output on your laptop with the bonus of working everywhere.

They are a great idea if you want something that's very portable and guaranteed to be usable even when there is not a mains power supply to hand.

The speakers fit into a small fabric bag for storage (included).

The sound quality is surprising and extremely good up to around 3/4 power, after which you will find that extremes of treble will distort. The bass level is very good for the size of the speaker. As a guide, you can comfortably listen to music and video in a quiet 12ft x 12ft room, but the sound won't overpower a loud conversation level.

I've had this laptop for a few months now and I have to say I'm impressed. It looks nice and performs well and I personally think the battery life is quite decent. It's a good laptop all round for the average user.

Hi

I purchased this nice looking number yesterday to replace my Eee PC 4 gig machine, which is in the same bracket as this Acer 150AW (512mb) machine but with the added benefit of having a 120 Gig hard drive, with both also using Linux as an operating system. I must stress it was not purchase from Amazon, but another major high street chain (Cxxxys)and felt complelled to write this report/ review.

I agree with the others that it was easy to set-up both the wireless internet connection, and network printers. But it went down hill from there!
I loaded a version from the Skype web page, have about 7 different one to choose from which is from what I see is also dependent on the version of Linux , and based on a trial and error eventually load ... Read More:

Datawind PocketSurfer2 - Portable Internet Device

Just a quick review of how I see the Pocketsurfer2, i've owned mine for 5 weeks now.

Positives.

1. Size, its small enough to fit in your jacket pocket, but large enough that you can type relatively quickly, and screen size is good.
2. Boot up time is good, expecially when in sleep mode, you'll be up and surfing in seconds.
3. Battery life is good, Pocketsurfer state 5hrs operating time, and this is right on the money. You might even get longer if you turn the brightness down.
4. Having easy to access maps via Google maps is very handy if your in a town you don't know so well.
5. The number of applications you have access to is great, all online based, which means you can even ... Read More:

this item does get worryingly hot , but seems to work fine , used for ages now , its travelled a lot , over 3000 miles with me , and works just as well on uk , or abroad voltage .

bought as replacement for little dell laptop , works fine ,it has a usb power port which worked out fine for supplying extra power to a card bus usb adaptor , so for this feature alone would highly recommend .
