This is a brillant camcorder that I was on the point of buying to cover a holiday in Peru. HOWEVER if you look on the Sony web site for the handbook, you will discover that use above 3000metres will destroy its hard drive!!! I have spoken to Sony UK Technical department about this and they not only confirmed the above but also said that switching to record on the memory stick will NOT get round it. As soon as you turn the camcorder on it will damage the hard drive if above 3000m. This was not mentioned in any sales literature or specifications, only the handbook -normally read after you've bought it!!

If you have an EOS 350D or 400D then I cannot recommend this product enough. Not only will it allow you to shoot for longer, as it has the capacity to hold two NB-2LH batteries or six AA's, but the added grip makes the camera feel sturdier in your hands. It is very comfortable and allows you to shoot in portrait without crossing over your hands. I don't think you will find a negative comment about this accessory.

I'll only review the IS aspect of this lens and make one other comment since I have only had it 24 hours and have yet to go out and about with it. Image Stabilization: Having solved the problem I comment on below, I hooked this brand new lens up to my 400D and started shooting objects at maximum focal length across the room using available light only. No flash. I took two frames of each, one with IS on, and the other with IS off. Shutter speed was 1/10 - 1/20 second in each case. Yes, 1/10 - 1/20 second and I was using 300mm focal length, hand held. Those frames taken with IS off were blurred beyond any semblance of use. Those with IS on were pin sharp. I was blown away. I can tell no difference between the quality and longevity of these third party batteries and Canon's own. I bought two of these batteries for my EOS 400D BG-E3 battery grip and have not been disappointed. They must have arrived fully charged and I have yet to recharge them after a fair bit of usage. For a fraction of the cost of the Canon batteries these ones will last you just as long. I don't think I will be buying a Canon brand battery again!

I can tell no difference between the quality and longevity of these third party batteries and Canon's own. I bought two of these batteries for my EOS 400D BG-E3 battery grip and have not been disappointed. They must have arrived fully charged and I have yet to recharge them after a fair bit of usage. For a fraction of the cost of the Canon batteries these ones will last you just as long. I don't think I will be buying a Canon brand battery again!

Although not the most powerful flashgun available on the market it's however, powerful enough and extremely well built and it's manual is very comprehensive and I'm still digesting all of it's content.
