The Canon 400D is a great camera but what a dissapointment to find the rear screen could not be used to compose the photo. I thought all digital cameras gave you this facility.

Would not have purchased this one if I had knowe

When I bought the EOS350D I also bought a Jessops spare battery - out of the two, the canon has completely died on me (no power, the recharger goes green after 20 seconds, but there is still no power) - the jessops one is still going strong. At 3 times the cost - I'll be buying a compatible one.

p.s. the camera is fantastic.

Got mine from Amazon at the end of May '08. Compared to my previous tape camcorder, the HDD is a joy to use - no more cueing-up or worrying about taping over things & playback is very simple being able to jump straight to the scene you want.

Supplied software works fine on the PC, but I haven't yet got it working with my (older) iMac and iMovie - the reviewer above has had success with an Intel Mac and iMovie 08.

High-Def does chew up a lot of disc space on both the camera and computer but I'm very happy with the results for day-to-day family stuff in standard definition.

Not too bulky, supplied cradle / charger is great & battery life is excellent. Very pleased all round, recommended.

Not a bad camera. Useful 4 times zoom, face detection, image quality reaosnable but not up to that of my old 2005 sony P200, less sharp, less detail, more noise, although with image stabilisation all of them come out, some P200 ones are blurry. To be fair I've seen pictures from other far more modern cameras that are not as good as my trusty P200 which did receive outstanding reviews.
Flash could do with more power.
Good battery life, compact and easy to use.

The display may be 2.5 inches which is fine, but the resolution is terrible (115,000 pixels). When I first switched it on and set the time I immediately knew it was poor. OK for close ups but in order to tell if more distant shots are in focus need to zoom in after each ... Read More:

First impressions; a solid well made camera with lots of features , reasonable price. Picture quality not absolutely top notch but considering £200 price point , quite acceptable. 18x zoom sounds great in theory but must be used with care as image quality suffers towards top of zoom range. Not as versatile as an SLR but still it's nice not to lug around full SLR kit. So far so good or so i thought!
But after having the camera for just over 3 months and having used it no more than 12 times a lens control error message spelled the end for my camera. Dead! Gone! I am now the proud owner of a fuji paperweight!
As for any help i.e. a refund or replacement from the retailer,(not AMAZON). FORGET IT! And same negative response from the manufacturer ... Read More:

At the time I purchased, the reviews I saw were over-complimentary, perhaps the earlier cameras took better pictures, the recent batch are nowhere near crisp enough to warrant such a huge cumbersome camera. Sent mine back to be checked and it was returned with advice about unsharp mask software enhancement. Poor show Fuji, I am seriously thinking about selling this and looking for a different model. Ironically, the reviews I saw said macro photography was not its strong point, well, of course that was the first thing I checked and to me it seems to be its strongest point, and as I was satisfied with that, trusted that the rest would be fine, when I did test and was disappointed, the free return period had ended.

Images sharp and clear. Options for slide show, auto switch on/off, preview, clock, calendar all simple to access and work really well. I particularly like the ability to change the interval on the slide show.

Accepts many card types and is easy to build an album on the internal memory. It cleverly adjusts the picture for portrait or landscape as you turn the frame - optimising the picture size.

A shame that the lcd screen is 15:9 more akin to a widescreen TV rather than a camera. This means that if you have the frame in landscape mode then portrait pictures tend to be smaller than you'd wish. Cropping pictures in a photo-suite to match the screen ratio can exacibate this problem. It would also have been useful to be able to file photos in folders so as to easily ... Read More:

On reading the other reviews I was quite worried. Nevertheless, the Canon DCC-600 is much better than I expected; it is excellent quality (in real leather); offers great protection; fits the G9 perfectly and looks rather cool and even has a neat SD Card holder in the lid. I agree that a spare battery holder would have been useful but where do you stop. If you have a G7 or G9 I would highly recommend it; you will not be disappointed!
