Like another reviewer I purchased this item from Avides. Delivery was pretty quick, unfortunately not all the accessories were included. No USB lead, no USB host lead and no anttena cable/carrying case. Emailed Avides and they apologised and said they would send missing items. They did, but over some period of time. Actually they were friendly to deal with and an honest mistake I can accept. Potentially an awsome piece of kit, however mine does not record directly from a TV or Sat box like it is supposed to do. Recording direct from DVD player is not a problem. Digital Freeview aspect is fine and I have had it working in trains and cars, on the move. Plenty of scope for keeping your music, photos too. I had an Archos Gmini 400 which got squashed in transit. I almost bought the 402 because I missed it so much but for £10 more I went for this. I have absolutely no regrets. The first thing to say which I have not seen mentioned anywhere is that you can play the video back through the TV with a simple lead. I used the one that was included in my Gmini pack and it is almost (but not 100%) DVD quality. Second, it is very easy to burn your DVDs (only for your own use of course) and convert them into AVI files. Then the quality is wonderful. the sound is excellent. The Samsung YH-999GS is a rare media player. Very expensive when introduced it flew in the face of the conventional Ipod and other players. With this player Samsung has produced somewhat of an enigma. A startling player that does certain things very well but others less so than other models. It is a device for the non-conformist. This model is durable unlike some I could mention, it is built to last and not designed to break a month after the warranty has expired. It has superb music playback quality as well as good video playback on a large 3.5" screen. Unfortunately Samsung teamed up with Microsoft on this model and whereas the Samsung YP-Z5 had a good interface surprisingly the PMC (Portable Media Centre) interface I find restrictive and lacking a few essentials. ...
