Having keenly arranged to receive a 604 for my birthday I decided to chip in the extra 50 quid and uprgrade to the WIFi, which I must add is only necessary if you need wireless internet otherwise it isnt really necessary. The kit is brilliant, the screen gorgeous, but I will struggle to ever again purchase an Archos product due to the ridiculous amount of software, extras and plug-ins I have had to buy: 1. Screen protector £5 2. MP4 converter for Mac £16 3. AVI- M-PEG4 plug-in another £13 4. The DVR dock which I got a good deal on £50 5. I took some time to view different leather cases and ended up opting for this one due to it's very simple design as well as very clear access to the ports, headphone jack and buttons. It also allows the Archos to maintain it's good looks as if it did not have a case unlike other cases. I have also found that some cases that do have small holes for access to ports don't actually give full access. From experience this can lead to connections to cables becoming loose which is annoying. This case has 2 right angled aluminium pieces (covered with material) that hold the top and bottom of the Archos near the rocker switches. There is another flat piece at one end only to stop the Archos falling all the way through though. One thing that I found disappointing ... Read More:

Have had my Archos now for about 1 year, exceptional piece of kit, easy to use and transfer all types of data. It has a great display and movies are very nice to watch with superb display. I have 2 batteries so have approx 9 hours of viewing which I use when flying, cant recommend highly enough

I am the type of person to take months researching products before buying them. We bought two others and took them back before this one. Havent got time to write a long review but using bullet points: * Lovely finish to the units - doesnt feel plasticy * Picture is great, nice and bright. * Sound level when not using headphones (my 3 yr old is a bit young!) is perfectly adequate. * Fantastic carry bag that stops things getting messed up - easy to find everything. * Battery unit attaches neatly to base and is very streamlined * Controls are in a slightly fiddly place at rear when watching but certainly manageable for an adult - this could be a plus with a young child as he hasnt yet worked out how to stop 'Big Cook ... Please DO NOT BUY this product. It is without doubt the worst mp3 player on the market, and probably the worst waste of money I have ever had. The File Master software that comes with the player is absolutely awful. Every function is completely counter-intuitive. Deleting files from the player in the software actually only removes the files from the playlist - it does not delete the file. You need to do this seperately in your normal windows explorer. WHY? The player crashes all the time. The random play function requires you to start a new playlist every time you start the player before taking effect. And sometimes its not actually random. My player has now completely given up. After trying to remove all files and reload ... Read More:

The picture quality is something I would expect of a cheap player not this one. When you have the darker scenes in the film, it is really hard to make out what is being shown. Also, every single disc that I've watched on this player suddenly stops for no reason at all(and no, it could not be caused by me fiddling with the player during the film, as I was sitting still the whole time and did not even touch the machine) during the film, and does not even resume, I have to go the the DVD menu and find where I left off through scene selection option. The sad excuse that is passed on for the antennae has barely any reception at all, to get a decent image you'd have to buy your own. This player is absolute and utter waste of money. I bought this hoping that I would be able to copy all my daughter's videos and dvds so that we could take them on holiday and keep her occupied on days when we are travelling or hanging around. However, I am disappointed that I cannot copy bought DVDs as they are protected, despite an earlier reviewer saying that the device ignores this aspect. The only way I seem to be able to copy these is to make a VHS copy first and then copy the VHS which is both time-consuming and also obviously not as good quality. I have tried copying using the file transfer device via the computer but this didn't work either. I would be grateful to hear if anyone has any suggestions.
