the main reason for my buying this particular product was the radio function but the reception is very poor. It makes the recording of radio programmes pretty pointless too. I definetly would not recommend this if you were a keen radio listener!

What a fabulous little piece of kit this is! New knockdown price of £45 makes it a bargain! Follow the instructions, install software first before connecting the Zen to the PC, and once it is connected leave it there until the battery full sign appears (all explained in the instruction manual). The accompanying software is excellent, and the sync manager is a great time saver, although that does bring me to my only negative point - 2GB simply isn't enough for your average music collection. So, you have to be selective about what you put on it - I only managed to get 456 MP3 tracks onto it alongside the pre-installed stuff...... I have to say it was everything i expected. good quality, large storage, easy(ish) to use controls, great picture and sound and i have had no problems with it. my only nag is it is quite large but i knew that before i got it. touch screen can be better at times but do not be put off this is a really good product.

I needed a unit to record audio via the line in connection in order to publish on the internet as podcasts, unfortunately it only records in windows media player format, first it needs to be converted to mp3, and then edited, I used audacity. Audacity will not open the windows media player files. In respect to playing music, the unit is fine, I use Ubuntu so you need to load some extra software to get the music uploaded. The interface is nice and tactile, the unit is light and portable. My wife uses the unit now, I've go my nano which I still prefer over this, the screen is larger and more suitable for viewing video podcasts and the interface allows easy browsing of my music. Unfortunately had to return the first one as the touch screen was defective, but this was mitigated by the great service and a replacement was sent immediately. First impressions are that it is a great little device, smaller and lighter than a packet of cigaretes. The ability to put extra storage in, by use of a mini-SD card is great, especially if you are to away from home for a long time. Okay 4 Gb memory basic should be enough for most unless you want to use it solely for videos. I haven't used the device for a video yet, but from the sample given it is quite clear. With pictures it does not like too large a format so to display them you need to reduce the size/compression, however the display is nice and clear.Only niggle I have at present is the built in game, ... I bought this mp3 a little while ago and i found straight away one problem. i found that it didn't have a radio like it said it would, and it wasn't one of the options you see in the picture. I also found it was quite annoying have to plug it into the computer and so i bought a plug. I found it had a mind of it own and sometimes it would charge off the plug and sometimes i wouldn't. It also turned itself on even when no buttons were being pressed, and so to stop this i had to put the lock button on. I would say that this mp3/4 is good, just a bit of waste of money and i would get something else!
