OK so there are a few issues with the Archos 605 wifi. But I still LOVE IT! I bought the 4GB one - why? Cos: 1) it was cheap (PC World were selling them off cheap at £80!) 2) It is 150g rather than 259g for the 160GB version and it is also slimmer to fit into your pocket 3) It's as expandable as you want - I've got half a dozen 16GB SD cards already and I can have as many as I like. The others (as far as I know don't have an expansion card slot) 4) Hard Drive units are susceptible to damage if you drop/jolt them. This one isn't. But each to his own - I am sure there are plenty of you out there who prefer to have your 120GB or whatever on the unit already. I love the screen - the ... Read More:

OK here it is... The client software is not good - there are better ones such as kissdx which is free and works far better than the supplied software i use under linux but there is a windows version. DVD playing.. err ok... it does the job but i dont have any dvds Converting hidef MKV's to work on kiss for streaming from a pc... actually really easy and results are great. 1'st strip out the subs using mkvmerge (have to say im using windows GUI under wine) and remux to new mkv. Then get mediacoder from sourceforge (free) and set it to use video h264 avc and nero digital sound (*again using the windows version under wine).
