This is an excellent scanner, producing superb results. I have been using it now for about 3 months with no complains. But if you want to get the best from it, you really need image editing software that supports colour profiles, such as PhotoShop. PhotoShop CS includes a profile for this scanner. You will think the results are great without it, but applying this profile makes them better still, by a large margin. Of course, unless you are scanning simply for archival purposes, the next purchase has to be a top quality printer, preferrably at least A3 (after all, if all you want are 5 x 7 prints, do you really need 5400 dpi?). An essential "accessory" if, like most photographers, you've got odd, single 35 mil negs. Works like a dream. My only issue is, when you pay over £500 for a film scanner why can't you get this relatively cheap accessory included as standard?

We purchased this scanner as a reserve scanned to our professional Sony UYS scanner which is worth well over £5000, for the price this Minolta scanner is very good quality, almost matches our Sony scanner. However now that these are not made anymore to get adaptors such as the APS adaptor you may be charged the earth if you can find one. To scan APS films and slides this scanner is a bargain.
