These speakers have a good quality of sound, but they are not able to handle loud-ish bass lines and will start crackling. It's a shame because they handle sound very well up to a point. I just don't understand why sony enabled the speakers to go allot louder than what they can actually handle. Very lightweight as well.

This Portable Speaker System belongs to the Philips brand, a brand I've grown to trust over the years. They look rather neat, and are advertised as being "powerful and compact," so imagine my surprise (and disappointment) when I purchased them only to discover how poor they really are. Firstly, I tried them with my MP3 player, and when I got such poor (and quiet) sound quality, I thought the problem must be with my MP3 player itself and not the speakers. After all, my player is a few years old and isn't exactly the best money can buy. So remaining hopeful, I decided to hook them up to my laptop (which was actually the main reason for buying them.) does what it says on the tin, it's not that loud, though as a usb port with an added inbuilt speaker, it's good! don't think of it as a speaker with added usb ports!

OK, sadly my old Yamaha speakers gave out on me after 8 years of great service. After reveiwing as many speakers as I could, I decided to go for a Creative set. Creative are supposed to be the kings of audio. I got these speakers a week ago. When they first arrived they were a piece of cake to set up. However, they wouldn't work. I tried everything to get them to work... nothing! I got a relative to look them over and he found the pins for the volume/base controller were damaged. HE fixed them for me and the controlloer plugged in fine that time. The speakers work fine! However, seems strange that the speakers are depaendant on the volume base controller to work. The docking station is very compact and folds flat easily. Since purchasing it I have brought it with me on holidays in order to enjoy my own ipod music. The speakers are surprising good for their size. Overall an impressive product.
