I was really hopeful about these when I placed my order - and I wasn't disappointed either. I had read all the reviews and these looked to be amazing for the price. I got mine for £50 on Amazon and was blown away with the power. They are a little bigger than perhaps they give the impression so I have them on the smallest of a nest of tables next to my iMac. Unless you want your neighbours to hate you and set the noise abatement society on you, I think these will do most people!!

I previously owned some Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers and thought they were pretty good, that was until my brother purchased some of these Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 speakers. As soon as he turned them on for the first time I immediatley went online and purchased some for myself. I can't express enough in words how awesome these speakers sound! There is absolutely no comparison between these and Altec Lasing 2.1 speakers, or any other 2.1 system I have since listened to including Logitech, Creative, Sony, JBL and Bose. The clarity of the speakers is excellent and the bass is mind blowing, they sound perfect across all frequency ranges, really bringing the music alive. Amazon has offered a refund for a return but unfortunately the main reason why I buy online is because I am a time deprived individual. So I now have semi working machine.This is main con of e-shopping. For the money, there are others for less , of similar if not better quality on the market - see TESCO,ASDA,SAINSBURY,PCWORLD . This one remains a semi lemon :(

When you first get these out of the box you will be ASTONISHED at the size of the sub and satellites. These things are beastly. When i first connected them up and heard them I honestly thought what the hell is wrong with them! They are connected to a PC by USB: When your computer CPU is under strain, the USB functions are affected as well. Thus, when listening to music and when your computer CPU is doing something strenuous, your speakers will suffer (crackly noise or intermittent playback). Another thing, if they are connected to your PC by USB, they WILL NOT BE USING your soundcard. I bought this purely upon reading these positive reviews, but what they didn't tell you about is the constant whistling! I took the first one back to the shop because I thought it must be a fault but the replacement was the same. I emailed 4gamers and they said that yes there is a slight whistling and that I should return it if I find it interupts my listening pleasure. Erm 'slight' is a bit of an understatement. I tried to ignore it but unless the music is a reasonable volume it's always there! It seems to be picking up the noise from the psp as if I browse through the menu the lovely whistle changes a bit! I suppose it's ok if you're always going to play music loud, but I don't!

These speakers looked great. Volume was a little lower that I would have hoped for but in the end I had to return them because of a very noticeable mains hum. Maybe I was just unlucky but I will probably try some Creative or Logitech ones instead.

The Sony 5.1 speaker set is great! i bought this a few days ago and wow do these small speaker pack a punch! there a separate console to control the rear, center and sub woofer! this is a extra touch that was good as you can adjust bass and make the sound even all around your room. i give it a five star because of such a well-design but mainly the value for money you get in return, is more than amazing. the rear speakers still need a little length put on it, but that rather minor when you have such great sound coming from it. oh and there's a second input which is just like a headphones jack, so you need a cable that has a double jack at each end. which Sony don't provide with the product.

I got this as an upgrade to some horrible cheap PC speakers I got for a fiver a while back. Obviously, they are a massive improvement on that. But I am a little disappointed in the sound quality. I like to listen to music on my PC and I'm a little bit of an audiophile (but not to the extent that I need professional help), and I suppose I was expecting more from this set up. Essentially what you have are two mediocre speakers for mids and highs and an absurdly aggressive bass "bin" that goes under your desk or wherever. Well, if you like bass you'll love this - the bass is earth (or carpet) shaking and doesnt disappoint. These elegant speakers were exactly what I was looking for. They look spectacular, and The subwoofer can fit in even the smallest of spaces. Their sound quality too is also pretty good. The bass is bassy and the whole unit hasn't had any difficulty in playing any Techno/Drum & Bass, however, I am only comparing that to my old speakers (they came with my computer). These also can play very loudly without distortion, however, they are in quite a small room so in larger ones, this could be different. The volume controller, too, is great, however it feels like it could break when I turn it around. Apart from that, these speakers really are immense and I'd reccomend them to anyone, especially if you are constrained with the amount of space you have.
