Looks like a good value package. It ain't. I bought the two handset package. Set-up is easy enough and the digital answer machine is actually pretty good so far as recorded quality goes. But the devil is in the detail. Speech quality on the handsets is variable - some times good, but many times virtually unusable. My old DECT phone (also a BT product) was far superior. What really irritates is that the time and date stored on the phone keeps changing unpredictably. Today is Tuesday 2nd September and I just reset the time again to be 21:39. I poll the base station answering machine to check it has the right time. It tells me it is Sunday and the time is now . ... Read More:

I've spent money on VOIP phones and with VISTA bugging with them all the time decided to buy the Netgear. Plug in and use it - how easy? I'm impressed with it despite the dodgy ringtones. There aren't any alternatives yet unless you want to spend £100's. So if you want a phone that's permanently logged into skype regarless of computer being on this is the phone for you.

been through several phones and headphones. this product has superior voice input and output quality. It is a bit on the heavy side if you intend to carry it with you in your laptop bag etc... but not that heavy unless your fussy. if you want it for skype only, then it is incredible as it works in perfect sync with skype. If you want it for other VOIP software then it will work as a ear and mic piece. the touchpad etc.. does not work with other softwares. You get MP3 quality output. the unit fits very nicely with the contour of your face. you don't get hot ears as is the case with headphones and some other usb phones. and it has a neat button for your voicemail. the guy who is recorded for this sounds like Arnold in Terminator, maybe a little ... I bought 4 of these thinking that as they were recomended for outside use they would be quite loud as my wifes hearing is a little deminished. I find that even I find it hard to hear the incoming caller and my hearing is good, I also found the problem varies from phone to phone some are worse than others so we only use the best one. Otherwise not a bad phone.

This is the first phone, as far as I aware, that has a headset connection that is easy to get a headset for and not one that you need to get an adapter for in order to connect the headset. Once you get used to using a headset, you'll not want to go back to having to hold the phone to your ear! It also has legs at the back so the phone is tilted to a level where you can see the display properly without having to lean forward and peer over the phone in order to see who is calling you.
