I have a 5" Maksutov and a fast 8" Newtonian and while the LPR filter does improve big objects such as M42 in the 5" scope the amount of light lost does present the LPR'd smaller scope with problems. The LPR filter really starts to take effect on the 8", effectively extending and enhancing emission nebulae from the background grunge that exists from my backyard only 5 miles from the centre of London. It doesn't really improve galaxies and everything develops a green tinge but it really isolates out the orange sodium at the expense of overall brightness. If you have a smaller scope, you won't gain that much but its perfect for 8" or larger telescope owners who really love looking for planetary nebulae and other ... Read More:
