Electronics : Canon Powershot A70 Digital Camera [3MP 3xOptical]

Almost all the reviews of cameras date from shortly after the camera was first produced, therefore there is nothing about the durability of a camera. Having used Canon SLRs all my life I was disappointed that when I switched from film in 2003 the Powershot A70 (which got great reviews) was not more solidly made and it has failed to pass the test of time. The shutter jammed twice, requiring it to be sent off for repair (about £70 per time). The camera produced quite good images but I found the shutter lag very slow and eventually it came to a sticky end when I fell into a newt pond a month ago. I dried out but the camera didn't. The new Canon A720 IS has been well reviewed but it appears to be an upgrade of the A70 series and I wonder whether ... Read More:

I got this from eBay actually. I already own a Nikon D70s and a Kodak P880 and wanted something that could capture some low-tech shots as memories rather than anything spectacular. For £[...], well, I can't complain. I know how to use a camera with flash, even one that's supposedly badly built as the Enigma 1.3 (so say some people here on Amazon), and I haven't gotten one dud shot. Also, shots taken outdoors in bright light can give some of the 3 megapixel cameras a run for their money. If you can snap one up for a few quid, then definitely go ahead. If you're looking for something to replace your Fujifilm FinePix or your Sony Cybershot, then look elsewhere!

This product is brilliant. It was bought for my daughter who had turned 7 and it was a great buy. Although the LCD screen is quite small the quality of the picture when on the pc is brilliant. I am very happy with this buy. It is easy to use and easy to set up. Get a memory card with it. It doesn't cost alot. If its your first camera, than this is the one to buy!

Pros: The 320 is a neat little camera - smaller than the Photosmart 215 that I used to use, and with better quality and a video clip feature that takes .avi's for you. The flash charges nice and quickly too.

Cons: The camera uses SD instead of Compact Flash, so if you are upgrading you won't be able to use any compact flash memory or compact flash card reader you previously bought. The video clips can only be a maximum of 30 seconds long (even if you have more memory installed). The strap was impossible to fit on my model. The camera doesn't come with an AC power adaptor (you have to buy it separately). Whereas the 215 had a macro setting for close-up pictures, the 320 doesn't, so you have to buy an adaptor lens if you want to take pictures of ... Read More:

When I bought this camera it was the latest released and part of the new easy share range by Kodak. One of the great things about this camera is its ease of use, the camera's own menu and settings are easy to browse and configure and it will take no time at all before you are using this camera to its full potential. The free software is not very good but most people will use their own photography software. Hooking the camera up using an USB port is very simple as is transferring the photos to your computer.

I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a cheap entry into digital photography. It is perfect for family occassions and trips out, the zoom comes in very handy. The flash and shutter speed is all set automatically so all you have to do ... Read More:

This camera is small but packs a punch. Not only is it both PC and Mac compatible but it also comes with software that enables you to play around with your digital images. There are a variety of effects you can alternate between, such as black and white, vivid colour and sepia. However the best feature is the continuous option which allows you to take up to 16 frames continuously.

The camera would be good for a beginner as the fuctions are self explanatory. The portrait and landscape option makes taking pictures under those kinds of circumstances effortless, and almost guarantees that the pictures come out crispt and clear.

The LCD screen at the back is a good size and can be switched off to preserve battery life.

Electronics : HP PhotoSmart C612 Digital Camera [2.1MP 2xOptical]

I recently bought my first digital camera, the HP 612, and have been delighted with its performance and ease of use. The camera was easy to set up and I was taking pictures within 5 minutes of opening the box.

The only thing that confused me for a while was trying to change the date display from the American mm/dd/yy system to the more familiar UK dd/mm/yy system. I could not get the camera's LCD date display to change. I noticed later when I downloaded the photos to my computer that the date and time info had in fact transferred in the format I wanted. I think the manual should have included more detail for this setting. It seems to me that the LCD is permanently set to American date format and that altering the settings on the camera changes the format of info ... Read More:
