Th @xia ix-100 offers great value for money. You should be able to pick one up for under £85. Its 1.3 megapixel resolution may seem low compared to high-spec models, but it is more than adequate for home use. It is also very good for web-based pictures. It is simple to use, and has a variety of features. It can even store up to 90 secs of black and white video footage. The CMOS sensor requires a steady hand - you need a little practice at first, especially with indoor flash shots.. and the 4Mb memory card you get with it is a little too small (14 - 42 pics, depending on quality), but for about £15 you can get a substantial 32Mb card. I have recently been given this camera, and it is amazing! I am an amateur photographer, mainly taking photographs of flowers and nature, however, it has been an excellent snap-shot camera for my summer holidays. It has 2 main features for me.... a) Macro distance of 1 CM (great for taking photos of flowers) and b) Shutter lag of 0.22 secs!!!!! This means it is only 0.22 secs between when you press the shutter to it actually taking the shot. Be wary of others which may take up to 1.5 seconds! This camera has the capability of taking excellent photographs.Better picture quality is obtained by taking the time to familiarise oneself with the manual settings. In low light conditions indoors in automatic mode it defaults to very slow shutter speeds, causing blurr. Setting the lens aperture to 2.6 and shutter speed to 1/60 with flash turned on seems to usually overcome these problems when taking pictures inside. Overall a great camera with a lot of scope.

This is a cracking little camera. It's my first digital and I was torn between this and the Canon Ixus V3, but my experiences with my Ixus II APS camera led me to try Minolta and I'm not disappointed. It is very easy to use and the picture quality is superb. The video capability is also very useful. I bought an additional 64meg card to go with the 16 meg card that came with the camera. I only have 2 gripes and neither are with the camera itself. Firstly the manual refers to pages that don't exist, although it is easy to follow and the camera controls themselves are quite intuitive. Secondly I have had to order a case separately, unlike the Canon. I think a case should be supplied considering the price of the camera. For these two reasons it is only ... Read More:
