I bought my Camedia 2040 zoom in the first week of September. I was also considering Canon digital IXUS v and Nikon Coolpix 775. What made me choose the Olympus because of the f1.8 lens, adjustable ISO (100, 200 and 400), manual focus, aperture and shutter priority and full manual operation. I though the camera had microphone input jack, both PAL and NTSC video out and a possibility to be used as webcamera, but that was not correct. The other two cameras don't have any manual options except from white balance (2040 has this, too, of course). I would choose Canon for a second camera to a professional one, while the Nikon is the camera I would choose for my wife. These were my considerations when I bought the camera. Having ... Read More:

Im using the Kodak 3400 for nearly 2 years now. Taken over 3000 pics (the camera tells you) and never had a problem. Being an amateur, just press and take a great picture. Much better than those pick up and snap cameras(the disposable ones). I could not believe the price of memory for the camera. I just got 256megs for a bargain. Which can handle well over 1000+ pictures depending on the quality of the photo. I’m off on holidays for 3 weeks, so I wont have access to a computer. So with 2 memory cards your sorted ! Great pictures great camera ! Matt.

I've had this camera for 2 and a half years and despite improving technology and availability of more pixels in far cheaper cameras, if you like the feel and want the options of an SLR then this camera is a good choice. Its at the top end of the hobby range, moving into the professional. On manual or automatic photos are of a consistently high standard and the autodrive is particularly useful. This is a camera for the luddites that really prefer their old bodies and lenses but have to send images via email and want something which won't be made obsolete in a few months and is as reliable and wonderful as their old Nikons and Olympus's.. The s30 has everything you need in a digital camera and crucially makes it easy for a beginner to learn about some of the finer points of photography in a relatively short space of time. The movies with sound are excellent and with a cheap tripod and big memory card, it's an awesome machine. If you're looking for a really good, reliable camera at the right price this is a great deal.
