I had a D'ImageX digital camera and was boasting to my nephew about it being the smallest camera in the world. He went back to Italy and sent me a L'espion digital dream, as a present and a joke. He knew I would experiment with it and my favourite Apple Computer. I did so and left it aside for the last couple of year. Since Apple had to withdraw its Isight Webcam from the EU market and from the American shops more recently I wished I could find a Webcam that was Apple and Skype compatible. Being a scientist I started experimenting with various Webcams and to my surprise my little L'espion was the only one that worked with Skype to give me a picture of myself that travels the world. The 775 was my second digital camera I had always had Pentax film cameras but fancied a Nikon so after reading a number of reviews I bought the coolpix. The photos were very impressive it was a pity to have to reduce them in size to put on a couple of websites I run (smaller pix = quiker loading time) I have a second battery which is advisable. A year and 2 months later it stopped working, the lens stuck half way extended, back to Nikon for an expensive repair (over £100) since it came back it now discharges the battery if left in the camera for a day or so, and intermittantly refuses to take a photo....just like the human body..excellent when it works but a severe pain when it goes wrong. I've had a canon v3/s230 for almost 2 years now and I've taken thousands and thousands of pictures with it. I've very rarely been let down by anything it does. The picture quality is excellent and I have had photos as large as 12x8 developed and they look crisp and the colour is perfect, only Canon have been capable of great colour from the digital cameras I've seen. Pros: Great picture quality, Small size, Movie mode (quality movies), Night shot (v.good - best for digital cameras of this size). Cons: Battery life (it's not that bad though) and the weight. Those two are the only things that bother me. I've been looking at getting a Minolta Dimage Xg but I will lose so many of the great things ... Read More:

Let's face it, how many times have you said, or heard a friend say "If only I had a camera". I have had various cameras from 110 instamatics, to 35 mm SLRs and APS. This camera beats all of them and matches the 35mm for quality. It fits in your pocket and you soon don't notice that it's there. I've done some shots of my dog for my wife (or was it of my wife for the dog), anyway it was that good that I framed one at 10" x 8", excellent quality. A decent printer with photo quality paper and Ni Mh rechargeable batteries and you can certainly cut out the middleman, the photo processor. A must is the rechargeable batteries don't get Ni Cad it's got to be Ni Mh. What I do is keep the camera in the supplied bag with two spares. Duracell ... Read More:

As soon as I received the SC2300 I noticed how lightweight and flimsy it was and that it was made in China and not Japan. There is no lens cover when not in use and no camera case so no way of stopping dust getting in the lens. The software is impressive to look at but the troubleshooter is a joke and only answers the obvious, like if there is no power, check there are batteries in it. Anything more technical than that and you are on your own. The image software is glitzy to look at but poorly designed. For example there are too many clicks to download the pictures. Surely this should be on the first page of the software??!! The camera never saw the outside of my house as on the first day of having it, the LCD display began flickering and ceased to function ... I own this camera for about 6 months now. I did a lot of research on digital cameras before buying it as this was my first digital camera... At first I was skeptical about the quality of such a camera. Well let me tell you it is great, if anyone wonders if it can replace a classic camera the answer is YES. The images are sharp, clean and support high resolution for large printouts. I really like this model as it can be used as point a shoot or in more advanced modes, thus gives great flexibility. The only downside I found till now is the memory stick that comes with it is not enough for a person that keeps on pressing that magic button with no stopping but you can always give some extra pounds to get greater memory... This little camera is a beauty. It is my second digital camera and I simply love it. I purchased it over a year ago, and have had no complaints. It isn’t available on the market anymore (I don’t think) as they now have the Ixus 400, however reading this may help you get to know the Ixus range more (and the newer ones will probably be better even better than this!) When I bought it, it was quite a high price (around 400GBP) because it was the latest Canon Ixus model and the first to have audio playback in the camera for the movies. It is slightly larger that the Ixus V range, and larger than the newest Ixus 400 (one up from this). The body is a handsome aluminium, though I do warn you that it is prone to scratches.
