I was looking for a simple solution to connect my normal DECT phone to both my landline and VoIP line, I'm pleased to say that this SIP APA does the job easily and well. My setup is an IDect phone, Virgin cable modem and Netgear WiFi router, with SipGate VoIP, Virgin phone line and 10mb broadband. The phone, phone line, modem and router all plug into the back of the SIP APA, setup is via a browser page in which most default settings where suitable so after entering my VoIP password and a reboot it was up and running. The SIP APA passes the broadband connection through to the WiFi router without effecting it, the phone dials voice calls through my VoIP provider by default or will send them through my landline when the number is prefixed ... My first impression as I opened the box was "mmm this all seems a little cheap" - not the best feeling when the phone demands a selling price on the verge of £100. I was fortunate to buy this in a sale from another source at half price (the sale has now ended). None-the-less I must admit I was a little worried as I setup the light `plasticy' phone and base unit. Once the batteries were added to the phone, together with the rear cover, the phone had a bit more weight to it and felt more solid. The LCD screen looks dated in terms of a clearly evident colour inconsistency, resolution is also low and could be compared to the early colour screen mobile phones that arrived years ago. What can I say.. the installation CD is full of bugs.. the D-Link web site is useless.. it only works with Internet Explorer.. the interface is clunky.. and the captured videos don't play back properly. Not a great camera, but it manages to get more than one star because I've actually used worse.

What can I say.. the installation CD is full of bugs.. the D-Link web site is useless.. it only works with Internet Explorer.. the interface is clunky.. and the captured videos don't play back properly. Not a great camera, but it manages to get more than one star because I've actually used worse.

I'm very sad that this product ins't exactly what I expected it to be or should I say that it did something I wasn't expecting. I would give it a 5 star review on basis that it performs very well: Positive: - Good range, never had any call drops within the 3 bedroom house up and downstairs - Battery life is also not bad - Sound quality is amazing, much better than any of the headphone and mics direct on the PC. - for the price I wouldn't expect any better, well done Binatone. Negative: - This is the point where it falls out! It has damaged my laptop. Yes, because the base station is self powered its USB connector feeds the PC or laptop with current.
