Have been using this adapter on a desktop pc with windows XP and the standard extension cable for over a year with no problems. Installed the software on two desktops and it worked fine with both, talking to the netgear router it came bundled with. Since we upgraded to WPA encryption, I needed to purchase another for a second desktop machine, as the old card couldn't support higher encryption. After much deliberation, I opted again for this adapter. I've just plugged it straight in with the existing software from the previously purchased adapter and its working fine.

It sounds like the more recent problems people have had are because of drivers. I've not had that because I'm using the software I installed about 18 months ago, rather ... Read More:

I've had a WRT 54GL for 12 months and it has run flawlessly.

My only complaint is the fiddly setting up of MAC address filtering (that limits access to specific PCs). This requires you find out and type in the 12 character MAC address for each PC. Using the MAC address stuck to the bottom of my machine didn't work - turns out my machine has two MAC addresses.

The solution is to pull up the command prompt window and type "getmac" (without quotes). That will give you several MAC addresses and you can feed all these to the Linksys and it will be happy since one of these will be the one it wants.

Netgear, in my experience a less reliable router, has a better interface for MAC filtering. It shows you the MAC addresses ... Read More:

Absolutely the most seemless installation process(Windows XP 2004). USER FRIENDLY. The WIFI card comes with a large antenna. Its also got seperate Windows Vista process.

Started off with CD driver. Only lasted several minutes and with about 4- mouse clicks. When CD process finished, it stated clearly that the PC will shutdown and continue after you insert the WIFI adaptor into the PCI slot.

Once card got fitted, i switched on the PC. It booted up as normal with no slowdowns. After Windows XP recognised the new hardware, the next step of the installation appeared without long delays. It instantly displayed the wireless networks. Once i chose my network, it requested the WEP keys within my secured wireless network. This was done within ... Read More:

14.BT Voyager 2110 Wireless ADSL Router from: BT Telephones

Electronics : BT Voyager 2110 Wireless ADSL Router
This is my third router, the previous ones being Belkin and Netgear, and both became faulty after a period of use. I have had the Voyager for about seven months, so I can't vouch for its long term performance, but the performance within that period has been exceptionally good. Firstly, the Internet connection has NEVER dropped out. It has been switched off when I have been away from home occasionally and on switching on again it recaptures the broadband signal within about half a minute without my touching it. The other two both had occasional drop outs and had to be rebooted. Secondly the signal strength right at the top of my three storey Victorian house is more than twice as strong as it was with my earlier routers. The wireless card in the upstairs PC reports ... Works fine for me with both PC and Laptop, XP and Vista. It is not quite plug and play, but not far off. The installation disk does most of the hard work, but depending what you're doing, there is some advanced configuration to do. e.g. encryption, ip routing, access permissions....... The odds are that if you know you need to play with the configuration you'll know how to change it! The connection to my provider is solid an reliable, the wireless range is good (no problems with internal walls etc...) and it looks cool too!

I've used many wireless devices over the years and this is by far the worst. Yes the range is great. Yes the configuration options are useful. Yes it looks nice. But what good is all that if you cannot get a stable connection? My streaming devices continually lose connection after a few minutes, often not even long enough to get through one music track on my squeezeboxes. I dare not attempt firmware updates on any device incase the Belkin drops the connection half way through. A constant frustration. The latest firmware made no difference. I have now ditched this in favour of my trusty old d-link box.

I don't normally write reviews... but after the pain I felt in getting this thing to work I felt compelled. Service was ok, in that the item arrived a week or so after order went in. No doubt I didn't read the description properly but the modem came with no power adaptor, no manual, CD or cat 5 cable. So, I set about purchasing/downloading these separately. When I had everything I needed (took a while - you try searching for a power adaptor for this thing) I couldn't connect wirelessly so had to use cat 5 cable. A long story short is that about 3 hours on the Belkin support line later I was finally in business. They were very good and very patient although still frustrating having to repeat everything you say twice as the call centre is in India, or somewhere near. The modem still doesn't ... Read More:

Havin bought two TP-LINK adsl routers in the space of a week only for them to be absolutely rubbish I plumped for the LINKSYS-200WAG.It took about ten minutes to setup 1st as a wired connection then as a wireless connection to my first computer(laptop)then to my home PC via my wireless adapter. The instructions was simple and straight forward it pretty much did what it said on the tin cannot fault it.

I completely recommend this card, but want to offer my story to give guidance to others.

I bought this card to replace my 54Mbps Cable & Wireless card, as I wanted faster connectivity.

When I first installed the card, using the installation CD it comes with, there were two options:-

1.) Use the Netgear Smartwizard. (recommended)
2.) Let Microsoft Windows configure the card.

I chose the option that was highlighted as being recommended, Netgear, but in doing this upon "successful" installation, I had no IP address, but somehow I was still accessing the internet, then it kept crashing and then eventually it didn't work. I rang my ISP but because the internet was working through my modem, they would not help. I phoned Netgear, they ... Read More:

20.Netgear EVA8000 Digital Entertainer (HDTV Ready) from: Netgear

Electronics : Netgear EVA8000 Digital Entertainer (HDTV Ready)
Looking for a way to watch your Freeview TV programmes recorded on your computer? As at November 2008 the EVA8000 doesn't support the .dvr-ms file types used by Windows Media Center to record Freeview programmes, so they don't play back properly - the sound stutters and is out of sync with the picture. (Although a firmware upgrade might solve this in the future.)
You also need to be aware that unless you have a very strong signal from your wireless router, the EVA is very slow to scan and download media; a good wired connection is essential - especially for HD material or large photos.
It's also very important to apply any firmware update from the Netgear site before you try to use the unit.
This is a product that promises much but can be difficult to set up and frustratingly ... Read More:
