Few instructions in pack, very difficult to install secure wireless, kept rebooting with XP and SP3, firmware on website to fix it took 8 attempts to load, system crashed twice and had to have repair installations, visits to website seemed to cause spyware infestation with pop ups and a trojan, no leaflet for SP3 on website only vista or XP SP2. Engineer failed to connect after an hour trying - his first failure. Shop that sold it me now being sued by me after saying it's fine. A complete disaster.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Electronics : Linksys WUSB54AG Wireless A / G USB Network Adapter

Short and to the point - This little Network adapter will work flawlessly in Xp and Vista 32bit, do not buy for Vista 64bit as you won't find drivers that work - trust me !!

Fast through put speeds, strong signal and a cute little bugger to boot !

Can be placed on your desk, and attached with the supplied Velcro patch and just route the USB cable to a spare port on your PC. Job done.

CON: Even though this item is certified as Vista Compatible, you will have no joy with 64bit Vista. so the Vista Compatible label is not totally true.

Don't get me started about setting up wireless networks. Oh, you just did!

Well, after breaking a Netgear PCMCIA card which never really worked all that well, I needed a replacement and got this after a bit of research.

It works.

Simple set up, load the drivers, plug in the beast, type in the magic words, and off you go. Then forget about it!

It seems to be reasonably sensitive too, certainly much better than the built-in wifi adaptor in my IBM T43 laptop, which on occasion has been handy when stuck in a hotel room with faint signals from a far away access point. This one's a keeper.

I have read the other reviews on this item and can't believe that they are talking about the same thing.
Admittedly I bought it to replace a Belkin (No comment) that steadfastly refused to talk to my laptops after working fine for months but that is another story.
I turned it on and it immediately connected to my Wireless ADSL router (Speedtouch), I picked up its IP address from the Speedtouch home page and set it to static (I have had problems in the past with the IP changing when the Speedtouch was rebooted).
Then it was simply a matter of adding a TCPIP port to my existing printer using the IP address from the router and the print queue name from the Server home page. (Advanced settings in Printer ports - LPR)

199.Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router from: Belkin Components

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Electronics : Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router
In 2006 I bought this Belkin pre-N wireless router with the promise of great speeds. It is truly useless and I have now thrown it away and got a Netgear router. The problems with Belkin pre-N is that: 1. You can't use Skype reliably to have voice conversations. 2 You can't reliably log in to the control panel and change settings such as the security settings (it keeps telling you you are logged out) 3 It really can't handle secure network settings such as WPA, which everyone does need to have. 4 Belkin support are very quick to respond, but all they tell you to do it update the firmware and reboot it. But that doesn't fix the problems. This router is a pup and Belkin should refund everyone who has these problems.
