This will only fully work with Vista. They state that as long as you have service pack three with XP it works but it will only then work with all the security turned off. Also the customer service Bombay department have little care and even less English which is of little use when trying to discuss technical issues.

I was so disappointed I've sent it back for a refund. I gave it one star because you cannot use zero stars.

I bought this to replace an older D-link router that was showing it's age, and bought it especially for the N band to match a new laptop.

The setup is easy to be honest: I didn't even bother with the CD malarky that is included because I find they usually cause more hassle than they save. To get it working you just plug in the relevant cables and go the setup page in your web browser (just type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar). From there you just log in using the default password in the manual and run the setup wizard which just takes a few minutes. Simple.

The only issue I had was that it couldn't connect to the internet at first, but I quickly figured this out: I had to use the same MAC code as my old router I was replacing. ... Read More:

First point: This product only works "out of the box" if you have no security set up on your wireless network. All the reviews saying things like "I just plugged it in and it worked" are coming from people who have never bothered to alter the default settings on their networks, so we should all stand outside their houses and use the free internet access! :-)

Second point: I spent ages failing to get this thing to work, and I consider myself reasonably knowledgeable about networking. It worked fine if I disabled all the security on my wireless network and went back to all the default Netgear settings (SSID etc), but I was unable to access the extender's Web UI for setting up the security settings to match my existing network. Setting a fixed IP address ... Read More:

I found the Netgear WG511 so simple t0 install on my
Evesham Notepad, I just followed the instructions to the letter and it worked first time!

So far it has given first class service, I evan tried my Notepad Pc in my Shed and that's some 150 feet away from my house!

I cant fault Netgear thus given them 10 out of 10 for how simple it is to use!

I bought this router about 6 weeks ago to replace a fairly reliable, although much older Linksys router.

Whilst it is very simple to set up and looks good (a rare thing with routers!), I have suffered similar problems to others who have reviewed this - it will lose the wireless signal every so often, requiring it to be turned off, then on again.

Perhaps there has been a bad batch of these as other reviewers seem to have not had any problems, but personally, I would think twice before buying one of these.

I have just purchased this item and I give it 5 stars. I have a D Link wireless router all ready, but after having difficulties with microsoft downloads, which caused my pc to crash,I could not get a connection from the dongle attached to my pc and the router. I tried to download the information required to my old dongle, but to no avail.
I have just set up the new one, which being a click and connect it is so easy to do it only took me 5 minutes. I am not a technically minded person, but the instructions are easy to follow.
The phone line is in a different room to the pc,that is why I need the dongle.
If you have an ADSL internet connection then this is the router you need.
This product also has an 11 year warranty. I told my daughter about this and ... Read More:

Is a good product I've installed the update in the first time that I conected to the internet via this router and so far is working fine.
Is very fast from 2.2mbs I went to 54mbs Internet speeds ,very impressive
I have some concerns regarding this product temperatures it runes hot and is advisable to keep this router in a cool place as far as possible from the home heatings. In my opinion there is security problems if I set the password security is quite difficult to have access to the router even when you put the correct password . the only type of security that I was able to get is the MAC security - I specified the Mac addresses which allow only the specified computers to have access to this router.

I've been through 3 routers in 6 months and this has been the easiest to set up. I plugged it in and the set up took less than 5mins - I had a secure wireless network up and running in 10mins

Just for ease of set up I would recommend this to anyone.
