I bought the slow cooker for lamb and beef principally but this book totally opened my eyes to other options - chicken, vegetables, and even various puddings and deserts. And all I have tried so far absolutely delicious. Plus with some helpful tips in terms of what can be done the night before and what has to be done on the day.

We have purchased MANY barbecue books over the last few months, and had really high hopes for this title based on the reviews. Sadly the book is very much geared to the American Market (and why shouldn't it be - the author is American himself) and I feel does not measure up well to our homegrown barbecue manuals. There are LOADS of recipes, but I feel that we will only try a few.

I wish I'd bought this book first because it's exactly what I was looking for. There are some "normal" recipes in there that you are likely to actually eat and not have to spend 5 hours first preparing everything which kinda defeats the whole point of having a slow cooker! Obviously there is some preparation involved (which you have to do with the meat first anyway!) and some more pics would have been nice but I find sometimes no pics are better so I'm not comparing the mess I've just made to the pristine example in the book...

I had bought myself a three-tied steamer but was very disappointed with how bland the food was. So I bought this book together with another far more expensive one to see if I could get some ideas. I was very disappointed with the more expensive book but this cheap little recipe book is a gem. Don't be put off by the cheap price. It's packed with all the information you will need for steaming healthy and tasty food.

I purchased a dual rice cooker/slow cooker, mainly for the rice bit, but on looking for recipes suitable for a slow cooker I plumped for this book for starters. Unfortunately this book is just an updated version of an old book first published around 30 years ago, so the recipes are a bit "living in the 70s" (beef bourguignon anyone?). Slow cooking seems to be undergoing a bit of a revival, but we really need some new recipe books with more sophisticated recipes and flavours for more modern tastes.

My first impressions on flicking through the book are that it looks very bland and uninspiring, there is not a single picture of any of the recipes inside, which is something I always find odd and off very putting. I've not tried any of the recipes as I bought the item as a gift so i'll have to wait and see if it redeems itself with the quality of the recipes.

A great book but do not buy if you already own Ainsleys Big Cook Out or Ainsleys BBQ Bible, as the recipes are all repeated with a few added extras. That said, the recipes themsleves are great - as is the photography and I would recommend you buy this book rather than any of the other BBQ books he has released.

We nearly never bought this book because of the previous reviewer. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MISTAKE!! This is a great book, it has several pages on how to make the pasta - but even better lots of recipes to entice you into trying that pasta maker! Lots of basic and more interesting recipes for everyone.

Almost every slow cooker recipe I've ever made has been tomato-based. Recipe books are full of slow-cook meat recipes and stews, but I was bored already, after just a few months of owning my slow cooker. So I had high hopes for this recipe book and I have to say it has exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the recipes actually are vegetarian (many of them are vegan). I say this because other slow cooker recipe books have "vegetarian" sections which are packed with meat stock, chicken soup, fish sauce and bacon in the ingredients! Secondly, the recipes are easy and they work. Again, despite being pretty experienced in the kitchen, I've had the experience of embarrassing failures with other slow cooker recipe books. This is a fantatstic book and saved the day when we bought an old house and inherited a 16-year old AGA. I was petrified of it at first but once I read through this book I was able to get going straight away. The book falls roughly into 3 parts. The first tells you all about AGAs - the different sorts you can get, a little bit of history and some of the other things you can do with an AGA (other than cooking!). The next section explains about the equipment you'll need and arrangements for servicing, with the final section covering recipes and techniques. I was expecting some really dull, stodgy recipes but I got it totally wrong. The recipes range from the traditional game casseroles through to risottos and pasta dishes.
