Jamie Oliver - Jamie At Home. A nice change. Its not just 'Another cookbook' by a celebrity chief. This explians how to grow and cook yourself. Probably the best book Jaime has written.

I have to admit that a few years ago I did not really like Jamie - found him a bit annoying, but boy have I changed my mind - he had made what is without a doubt the best series of cookery programmes there is around at this time. Using fresh everyday ingredients from his garden, everyday equipment which is in most homes he produces delicious, nutritious wholesome healthy food - yes there is the odd rich desert but nothing wrong with a bit of cream every now and then. Loving cooking and not being a bad one I own many cookery dvd & books, 99% pale in comparison. Buy Jamie, use it and enjoy good food.

A very funny and highly entertaining program of well known wine expert OZ Clarke and Jamas May known form Top Gear, who together travels on a wine adventure. James knows nothing about wine, but have chosen the car for the adventure (of course an English jaguar) and is like a rebel boarder school boy taught by the slightly older and more distinguished Oz Clarke, who continuously tries to learn James about the different wines and the impressions they make. I can't praise this series enough. When it was first broadcast on BBC Television in 2005 I thought it was a very good but after getting the DVD I have to say it is fantastic. I find Rick Stein fascinating particularly as he adds stories or anecdotes about the various dishes that he prepares during the course of his journey from Bordeaux to Marseilles onboard the "Rosa" and the "Anjodi" which incidentally are canal barges. What is also great is that in his quest to get to Marseilles, he does not forget Brittany which gave him so much inspiration during the early days of his seafood restaurant. This series is amazing, I first watched an episode of River Cottage on Sky, was at home with a friend zapping through numerous channels and landed on this, my friend insisted it was a brilliant TV show and we should watch the episode. My friend is not into cooking that much so it got me interested! Anyhow the stories, the recipes and the adventure got me hooked, i had to buy them. I have watched the two first seasons and i love it, kind of makes me dream of a house in the coutryside, although i guess a lot of aspects of self-sufficiency are not covered he looks at the food side of things with a lot of attention. These two ladies were actually responsible for my interest in cookery from the moment I saw them on TV, what and how they cooked was exactly how I've always imagined things should be in the kitchen, and I was so relieved to see that it is actually ok to use butter, full cream, lard, game when other chefs were treading ever so carefully pandreing to the PC idea of cooking.Love it!
