This book is absolutely wonderful. The recipes are easy to follow and taste divine. The 'What went wrong' sections are really useful - if only to show you that your cake has come out just as it should be! The pies are wonderful too. The glossary of terms, equipment list, recipes and little asides all add up to a book every kitchen needs.

This book caters for all makes of machines and all skill levels.It gives English weights for cup measurements if needed.If you only buy one book I think this is the best.

I thought this was a new book, but its not. It is just a combined book of Naughty Cakes and Xtra Naughty Cakes. If you dont have these two then this is a great book with lots of ideas, and would get 5 stars! However, if you do have them, then there is nothing new in this book, and I wish I hadnt wasted my money. It should be clear, and I wish Debbie Brown, or her publishers, wouldnt keep rereleaseing the same stuff but in new covers or with a different title.

I purchased this book over the weekend and was slightly dissapointed. Firstly as it's an american cookbook the measurments are in cup measures so if like me you don't have a cup measure don't use your mug you have your tea as this definately will not work. My real dissapointment was that there is only ONE photo in the entire book. The only tasty think about this book is it's cover. The receipes themselves don't sound too inviting. Personally if like me you like to see a picture of what your end result should look like (Not that mine ever look as perfected as in the picture's) then this book is not for you and definately not for me!

It's well presented and has some nice colour photographs but if you're looking for recipes, try another book. Most of the recipes use cake mixes and for someone living in the UK, these cake mixes with instant pudding added are not available. I was expecting 100 new cupcake recipes instead I've got 100 variations using cake mixes. There are some recipes in the back but not enough to justify buying it. If you buy "Betty Crocker Decorating Cakes and Cupcakes" you'll get the same recipes. This is a poor addition to the Betty Crocker range of books.

I bought this book after owning 2 of Maisie's smaller books and I find the characters very funny. Maisie's sugarcraft ability is amazing and although I think the expressions on the characters faces are quite tricky to copy all of the cakes in this book are fun and can be made very well even with more simplified faces etc. The little school scene is delightful and the teenage moody shopper brilliant. I recommend this book, especially to people who like me, make novelty cakes for a living.

A wonderful book for a complete novice in cake decorating! Lots of brilliant ideas which look really impressive but are amazingly easy to make and without a piping bag in sight. I keep coming back to it and you really can make a cake that looks like the one in the picture. After the last one I was even told I should go into business........and I promise anyone reading this that I am not a confident cook. Thankyou Carol for dispelling the fear and for all the compliments which I would never have received without your instructions.

This book is comprehensive and instructive, and infused with the enthusiasm and knowledgeability of the author which he is dying to share. I found it useful and informative and interesting reading - I just wish I had a garden big enough and enough people to feed to justify building one of the grander ovens he describes. Photography could be a bit better though, so I knocked off a star.
