Beautifully presented and clearly explained. Every recipe I have attempted has turned out lovely: the resulting loaves have a better flavour and texture than any I have made from other books. A must buy for the serious home baker. One word of warning though: this is not a book for those in a hurry. Many of the recipes require the use of a leaven (a fermented flour and water mixture) which can take a week to get started (and which needs periodic maintenance) and requires the resulting dough to be rested and proved for longer than in direct (yeast based) baking. A typical recipe starting at 8am will need attention at regular intervals until 12pm and then a 4 or 5 hour proving so by the time the loaf is baked it has taken 9 or ... Read More:

This book was a gift from my best friend, and what a gift it turned out to be! The first recipe I wanted to try out (for a special occasion) was the Beef Wellington, I was wary because I had never done it before. I followed the instructions step by step and it turned out PERFECT! since then all the recipes have worked a treat! This book is highly recommended, buy it, you will never regret it!

This is a great book for making birthday cakes for your Bob fan. I am in business as a cake maker and found these cakes inspirational, they are also designed with novice decorators in mind (Bobs face cake & theme cupcakes). Good step by step instructions and lots of pictures showing each stage.

The most common ingredient in this book is "vegan margarine", and all the recipes give you a product which is uncomfortably high in fat. In addition, you need to check your fat very carefully. Most margarines, including margarines made entirely from vegetable oil, contain partly hydrogenated oils. That's trans fat, the very last thing you should be eating.

As with all Lindy's books, I am in love with this one. You will leasrn easy yet effective modelling and effect techniques. I particularly liked the use of gel to make animal eyes (like cat and rabbit)shine, this make these designs look very realistic.In this book she experiments with the use of colors through shading techniques and also uses the lustre edible colours in some designs (like Princess Penny). Highly recommended

This is my personal favourite cake book out of all my cake recipe books (and I have quite a few). The recipes are simple and absolutely delicious. I have almost made all the cakes in the book and intend on making the rest eventually. My favourite is the Hummingbird cake, as well as the Carrot cake. This book has a lovely variety of cakes to make. Something for everyone.

This book finally gave me the insight in sourdough that I needed. It gave me also the insight in the various grains on the market and the various types of wheat and stuff like that. Many nice details. Very informative and got me totally into sourdough again, which we love anyway, now its just easier to make. Wonderful book!
