I've only made two cakes from the book so far but, they both turned out scrummy. Lovely pictures and clear instructions. There is a great section which explains cake tin dimensions and gives basic baking instructions. I can't wait to make more cakes from this book!

This is a fantastic addition to the Aussie Women's Weekly series. I really love all of the photos and the recipes. I have made a couple, the could cakes were delicious! It is very thin, so fits well on the shelf. The ingredients are easy to come by. Some of the decorating tools might need a bit of searching, but the book offers a range of cupcakes from easy to more tricky. Some of the recipes only make a couple of cakes, but it seems easy to double and triple if needed! Great addition to my cupcake collection =)

Got this book for Christmas 07 and am slowly but surely working my way through it. Simple, easy to follow and well explained. My only slight fault would be I would like even just a little picture beside each recipe to see how it's supposed to turn out. Other than that, 10/10

I make cakes for a living and own all of Maisie's books. This is a little paperback which I find a great reference source if I just need to pop a few cows or a cheeky sheep or duck on a cake. Recommended one for the book shelf which will come in handy for years.

This is a nicely produced book. The recipes in the front are very useful. Some of the ideas for cakes are lovely however the techniques leave a little to be desired by a British sugarcrafter. 'Covering a cake with marzipan' shows a badly shaped cake but no attempt is made to correct it before covering. 'Working with fresh flowers' shows how to wire fresh flowers and then suggests they can be inserted straight into the cake! Taping the wire of a sweet peas - starting at the free end and working up to the flower and then dampening the tape to hold it in place!???? The cake 'Champagne Bubbles' and 'Baroque Splendour'the royal icing 'bubbles' all have points on them and the 'Butterfly Tower' of individual cakes - again the wired butterflies ... Read More:

I love baking and have stacks of books but I have never bought a bread making book as most recipe books seem to cover it in some form or another. But I borrowed this book from the library out of curiosity and as it's the school summer holidays I thought it would be fun to try and make some unusual bread with the kids. I have been so pleased with the book and the choice of recipes I have decided to buy a copy for my own 'cooking library'. As the other reviews say, there is so much detail about bread baking starting with a gallery of fantastic loaves to tempt you before you even started!!! I'd agree with other reviewers that it's maybe not for total novices, but I love this books and all the cakes I've made from it have turned out very nicely (except for the glaze for the flourless chocolate cake, cake was great, glaze didn't work). A couple of friends who are less domestically inclined than me bought the book after browsing through it at my house and they love it too. Plus it really is a beautiful read.

I make cakes for a living so was only really interested in the cakes when I ordered this book but the cookies are so cute and fun too. The cakes are stunning and I think beginners can attempt them as well as experienced decorators. Absolutely beautiful cakes, makes you think of english summer garden parties. I love Peggy Porschens work and since buying 2 of her books have booked onto one of her courses.
