Fantastic book, such inspiring recipes, very easy to follow. I don't have an AGA (though in my dreams, I'd like one), but I haven't found this a barrier to making the dishes in the book - and they have turned out perfectly. Great book to give as presents to friends.

I've had this book a few weeks now and love it. Doreen, if you check again the recipe for Split Pea Soup (page59) it DOES have a liquid: 6 cups of water! Does this explain your problem? I love the Beef & Rigatoni bake, Chicken & Barley, Curried Lamb & Apricots and the Tamale Pie with Chili Cornmeal Crust looks tempting. It has a crusty topping made with polenta (cornmeal), egg, cheese etc. Lots more, too, of course, for all tastes. It also has very useful information for preparing ahead - how to prepare the dish partially the night before ready for cooking next day.

This is a fantatstic book and saved the day when we bought an old house and inherited a 16-year old AGA. I was petrified of it at first but once I read through this book I was able to get going straight away. The book falls roughly into 3 parts. The first tells you all about AGAs - the different sorts you can get, a little bit of history and some of the other things you can do with an AGA (other than cooking!). The next section explains about the equipment you'll need and arrangements for servicing, with the final section covering recipes and techniques. I was expecting some really dull, stodgy recipes but I got it totally wrong. The recipes range from the traditional game casseroles through to risottos and pasta dishes. There are some really ...
