If you're new to steaming this is a great little book to get you started. It contains lots of recipes and timings for different vegetables, meat, fish and poultry. I often refer to this book more than the book which came with the steamer!

My only criticism is that there are no pictures to accompany the recipes, but if you're looking for an inexpensive book to get you started, this is the one for you.

Oh my god this is great for the beginner, I am just starting out and have gone Orgaic, this gave me so many great ideas, its a little bit of the quick version, you use a lot of ready made custard and ready made chocolate, but to start with thats what you want and if you want to that can be substituted for home maded custard base, great intro and large section on ice-cream such puddings like chocolate banana ice cream pie, and baked alaska!!! --- I whole heartedly recommend this book, so cheap but a real Gem!!!

This book sets out to give recipes that are nutritious. This sounds dull, but actually the food is very good and the little bits of information about minerals and vitamins in food were very useful. I like cooking, and this is a 'cook's book'; she gives little tips on cooking, and - as a fairly experienced cook - I did find them helpful. Yes, she does tell you to roast and grind your cumin, but one can always take short cuts. Preparation does not take ages. Frying in a skillet is the norm, but then how would you get an intense flavour without it? The beauty is that there are no tins of condensed soup etc (well, yes in the tuna casserole, but I forgive her that). This is proper, healthy food. The one element that didn't suit me was the enormous ... Read More:

I bought a slow cooker for my daughter to take to uni with her. Then I began the hunt for a quick and easy to follow cook book with lots of delicious and interesting recipes. After trawling through a lot of books, and I mean a lot, I came accross Catherine Atkinson's 'Slow cooking for yourself'. Bought it, and was delighted with an excellent mixture of recipes to match all tastes (even vegetarian). All in all, if you follow this book you will end up eating extrememly decent food. The friendly cooking advice, tips and even suggestions to what to do with left overs are a welcome added extra. All recipes are for 1 or 2 people but ingrediants can be doubled up for a family. I was so pleased with this book I am about to order another for myself!!

I so often go back to Aga Easy as I love the way the recipes are laid out, they tell you whether or not you can freeze them and what parts of the recipe you can make in advance which I love as it means you can get organised and not have too much to do at the last minute. My copy is getting rather messy as I use it so much! Brilliant.

This is a fantatstic book and saved the day when we bought an old house and inherited a 16-year old AGA. I was petrified of it at first but once I read through this book I was able to get going straight away. The book falls roughly into 3 parts. The first tells you all about AGAs - the different sorts you can get, a little bit of history and some of the other things you can do with an AGA (other than cooking!). The next section explains about the equipment you'll need and arrangements for servicing, with the final section covering recipes and techniques. I was expecting some really dull, stodgy recipes but I got it totally wrong. The recipes range from the traditional game casseroles through to risottos and pasta dishes. There are some really good puddings ... Read More:
