I bought this book purely on the strengths of Julia's previous publications, but unfortunately it was most disappointing. Readers familiar with her books will find that the content lacks both substance and quality. It's uninspiring and the layout/presentation is in desperate need of an overhaul. One would have thought that a book bearing this title would cover all the basic recipes and techniques-not so it seems. In short, I would strongly recommend all amateur cooks and gourmet fanatics to stick to her other titles.

Food and Drink : Great Grub for Toddlers
My copy of this book is very well thumbed. Cas Clarke takes the practical attitude of providing good food that doesn't take ages to make. Parents can enjoy the recipes without feeling that they're eating kiddies food - she also has some recipes introducing more exotic tastes.

I found the menu sections very good (it tells you what her children were eating and at what age - I bought this book after having my first child and found this sort of information very reassuring). Also, her section on childrens' parties are very useful - down to what to serve, theme parties and how the most uncreative person can become a whizz at making birthday cakes.

The only thing that some readers may not like is that she does talk about ... Read More:

Food and Drink : Organic Baby & Toddler Cookbook (DK Organic)
At first I thought this book was brilliant but actually it's got incorrect information in it which could be a danger to your child and I couldn't trust it!!

In the 4-7 month category it has recipes for oats and meat. If you're weaning your child before 6 months you should know that you cannot give meat to them and only gluten free oats, which it doesn't mention.

I wouldn't trust this book and will not be using it. Unfortunately I didn't get to look at it until it was too late to return.

If, like me, you started out intending to feed your child only the best food but find yourself almost unwittingly slipping into allowing more sweets and crisps as "pester power" sets in, then this book is for you. I started out thinking the author was a bit preachy -- do we really need to know *why* junk food is bad, after all we probably wouldn't be reading this book if we weren't already aware of the issue? But it was helpful to have a reminder and once I read further into the book I found it really inspiring. The author has many, many practical tips for dealing with all kinds of issues that arise around children and food and although she takes a firm stance against giving in to children's whims, she also stresses the importance of respecting their ...
