This book is boring, the recipes are boring and unadventurous and the layout is boring. Luckily I did'nt pay for it, it was given to me. There are far more better baby recipe books out there.

with my littlun just starting to need proper packed lunches i ordered this book in desperation as half of the contents of the sandwich box came back opened, mangled, rejected. even if you don't follow the recipes (and they are simple simple simple!) they're great ideas to tweak. if, like me, you have no imagination in the food prep department, i'd absolutely recommend this.

I've bought lots through Amazon over the years and this is the first time I've felt strongly enough to write a review. I've no complaints about the information in this book, but I found the tone and style so offputting that I stopped reading after a couple of chapters and have given it away. Basically it felt like the author was making a lot of assumptions about my views just because I'm pregnant and a vegetarian (for example by speaking about the joys of creating life without taking life (i.e. eating meat)) and it made the book very annoying to read. I guess I like the 'rough guide to pregnancy' style, which is peer-to-peer, modern, informative and amusing - in contrast this title felt like I'd gone back in time with traditional black ... Having purchased this book on spec I have to say it is by far the best book I have every purchased. My cooking skills have increased by 100% and my children now love my home cooking. No more processed food from the supermarket now all freshly prepared. I am enjoying it my children love the food and all so easy. Excellent

I found this book very useful, informative and helpful. I used this book for my first child and since having a second, I had completely forgotton what and what they couldn't eat at certain stages of the feeding process. All the receipes look good and cater for all tastes (as they can all be fussy!). It's a must have for someone starting to ween, through to cooking for toddlers. This book was bought for me and I'll certainly be buying it for friends that have had babies.

This is one of the few children's recipe books I use regularly. The recipes are really good and reliable and it is a beautifully presented book. In many ways it isn't really a book of 'children's' recipes as it emphasises the importance of giving children good quality food and and eating as a family. I'd recommend these recipes even if you don't have a child. I find the comments of one reviewer regarding the photographs a little bizarre as there are none of children using sharp knives, only standard cutlery and, while there are pictures of animals, well that is where meat comes from and children do generally seem to accept this if it's treated as a matter of course - and there are also some good vegetarian recipes in the book if they ...
