I decided to try out this book after gaining 2 and a half stones over several years.Having never dieted before, I wasn't sure how to go about it, but didn't want to crash diet or begin a faddy,unhealthy diet. I ordered this book in January and it has been invaluable. It sets out the principles of the GI hip and thigh diet - low fat, low calories, high GI eating, and is very easy to follow. It explains the pitfalls of crash dieting and also explains the importance of exercise in losing weight.While not following the recipes in the book, the principles behind the eating plan seem sound and are not difficult to follow - with a bit of willpower. I love this book, infact I love juicing. Jason is a great inspiration and juicing certainly helped me to a healthier and trimmer body. I have tried most of the recipes and all of them taste wonderful. The vegetable ones are a great way to use up the excess stock from my allotment. I didn't even buy this book - it came free with my juicer, now that's a bargain.

Be warned that if you are vegetarian, Dr Atkins says his diet would be too boring because you would have insufficient choice of protein foods. But if you're not, it's brilliant, and it really does reduce weight FAST with no hunger after the first few days. And despite what the scaremongers say, it does include green veg, and after the first fortnight it includes a wide range of veg and some fruit and is perfectly well balanced. Others have come along afterwards and you may find them presented in a way you like better: e.g. Nerys and India's Idiot Proof Diet is great and has a supportive forum pig2twig, which helps a lot. I was really looking forward to reading this book for inspiration to pursue a healthier lifestyle. The book's "inspiration" amounted to a lot of swearing- obviously covering up the authors' lack of appropriate vocabulary. It comes across as crass and ill-informed. Also, many of their "scientific claims" are completely false, and they cite inadequate sources for these outrageous claims. If the reader has a basic education in biology, he/she will recognize the false claims and the poor attempts to cover them up using expletives. A total waste of time.

I've just cooked another dinner from this book and yet again it was scrumptious as well as healthy. I'd recommend this book to anyone, not just those with diabetes. Yummy!

A great book to help beat candida.When I've tried the suggestions then I've really been helped.Well written and easily understood, this is a brilliant book for anyone suffering from candida effects.

This book is proof that good things come in small packages - it was lying unused on a shelf for a long time before I picked it up and decided to make something from it and since then the book has become grubby and stained due to the number of times I've used it. Someone else has already pointed out it is great value for money and I definitely agree on this. A perfect book for when you need something quick to make after a long day at work! It's full of easy, uncomplicated recipes.

I was hugely disappointed with this book - particularly with the photography of the finished dishes - it's redolent of the quality you'd find in a 1970's cookbook - the food looks totally unappetising. I love cookery books and looked forward to this arriving but can honestly say I'll be lucky to use 2-3 recipes if that. Uninspiring with an over reliance on a few ingredients. Sorry, but wouldn't recommend this to anyone who really enjoys cooking.
