I have an all too healthy appetite which at over 50 means weight gain. I love sugar in all forms and have been hungry on other diets but not this one. I ate probably larger than recommended portions and over 14 days I lost 10lbs. What's more my husband was happy to eat some of the main meals too e.g. Malaysian Laksa and we still use the ones he likes. I have managed to keep most of this weight loss off for 5 months since doing the diet strictly and I don't exercise although I know I should. A few recipes are a little bland but they do work. I found the suggestions for breakfast particularly helpful and tasty.

Susie Orbach has distilled the essence of intuitive eating into a simple, elegant little book. If you are looking for a book which will explain how intuitive eating works, then this isn't the one - you'd be better off with the original Fat is a feminist issue. If however you want a book to dip into as a reminder, to motivate and inspire, it's just the ticket!!

I did this detox with my husband a few weeks ago and delayed writing a review to see what happened to all that weight! In short, my husband lost 8.6lb, and I lost 9.4lb and a few weeks later i'm only 1 lb heavier so I'm pretty chuffed. However, the detox itself we found pretty hard work. Some of the recipes are ok, but some it seemed that there was a typo in the book. One of the recommended smoothies involved a peeled lemon, peeled orange, and 2 apples amongst other things. Trust me - that does not blend into a smoothie. It was like drinking sick and it went in the bin. I love this book - every recipe I have made has worked. Having repeatedly borrowed it from the library I tried to buy a copy without success - until now, with this lovely new paperback edition. She seems to have come up with many ideas that I have not seen elsewhere - very refreshing. Also, many recipes are for two people which avoids having to scale everything down - although she must have a bigger appetite than I have! There are no pictures of the food; instead there are vibrant fruit and vegetable ink paintings. I wouldn't have minded fewer of these but it's a small quible and better than nothing at all. It is one of the few books that I actually cook from out of my embarassingly large collection of vegetarian cookery books.

I bought this book for my mother in law as a present as she had been newly diagonaised with diabeties. Unlikely a lot of books I had looked at this was simple to understand, had good general information and also easy recipes. A lot of books seemed to have fancy recipes for food I knew she would never eat but this has great, easy recipes for everyones tastes. I was so impressed by the recipes I bought it for myself and im not diabetic. The recipes dont have photos but are really easy to cook, usually with some recipe books you only use about three or four recipes but this has countless recipes I am trying. I have foumd this book so much help in providing information on I.B.S. It explains very simply all the aspects of I.B.S. and has a great recipe section. I have just ordered another copy for a relative who didn't want to borrow mine as she felt it would be of so much use to her.

I have owned this book for several year,it was the first cookbook I bought after going vegan. I have used it so much it's falling apart and badly stained with chocolate and sauces. I highly recommend this book.It's refreshing,fun and the recipes are spectacular. I recently got married and moved to another country where vegan restaurants are zero.I have had to cook every day for me and my husband who had never had vegan food until I came along. I have impressed him so much with my cooking,most being recipes from this book,that he is now (mostly)vegan(he's working on the last bit). If I can turn a meat-eating Dane,where the word vegan is only very recently being heard,with these recipes,I think that anyone will love them,too.

What a fantastic little book this is and you don't have to be vegan to enjoy the recipes because they are great as they are. My husband loves the chilli recipe and I can't make enough of it for him. And what a great idea to make shepherd's pie and lasagne in a slow cooker. I would never have even thought of that. The desserts are delicious too. If you love having more time and to yourself and eating really healthy and tasty meals, then this is the book you need. It's full of receipes from around the world that you can just prepare, throw into the slow cooker and leave to cook all day.
