I recently toured the Champagne region, having booked hotels and chosen destinations on the internet; I had a superb time and fell in love with the towns, villages and steeply-sloping chalk hills of La Champagne. I bought this book on my return hoping to learn a little more about it - I should have bought it before, as it's an excellent touring guide to the region. Champagne has been my favourite drink for a number of years and this book has enriched my appreciation no end. It's written for someone who is planning on visiting the region from England (most of the travel directions are based on how to get there from the UK), and suggests various routes through the champagne villages and towns. Not, I was originally disappointed to find out, a guide akin to The Good Beer Guide. This book has far more content about the breweries than pubs in Prague. However, it turns out that this is in no way a bad thing. Prague has thousands of bars but, as the book points out, this doesn't mean to say that there's a huge diversity in beers available in them. The Czech beer guide waxes lyrical about the breweries and beers, and then suggests places where you might be able to get them. If there is a criticism... the maps aren't brilliant, and perhaps there could have been more pubs listed... but no matter, this is a great guide. The illustrations and Poetry are particuarly enjoyable. A lovely book.

We picked this book up while we were out on the West Coast and it proved to be a truly trusty travel and drinking companion. Wonderfully witty, well-written and rigorously researched, it introduced us to beers and bars that we simply would never have discovered had we relied on more conventional travel guides. If you like beer, even a little bit, then buy it. If you don't like beer, buy it anyway and you soon will do!

The recipes for both coffee and eats really compliment each other in this comprehensive guide to the world of coffee. We tried baking the chocolate and cinnamon biscotti and found it was delicious as well as the cinnamon twists which are great to dunk in your breakfast coffee. A wonderful range of ideas in a book which is a kitchen must. An unmissable title for "real" coffee lovers

This is an amazing book to read. I read it while making the transition from extract to all-grain brewing. Actually that's not quite true, I bought this book and it inspired me to switch to all-grain brewing, which I have definitely not regretted. What this book has is lots of all-grain recipes, which you can brew as they stand, or use as starting points for your own ideas. Mosher gives lots of hints about where you could take different recipes, and the book is packed with tips about how to combine ingredients to make great tasting beer. It's not exactly a book about how to design your own recipes, but it will get you thinking in that direction, and if designing your own recipes from scratch is your aim, this book is be a great place ...
