This book is without doubt one of the most impressive, concise, organised and easy to follow cookery books ever written. The vast culinary experience of Mr R.J Kaufmann is evident in the resulting products of these superb recipes and I can strongly recommend this to anybody who is looking to begin or further their cooking endeavours. You need not take much notice of the one star review above as it certainly doesn't tally up with the fact that this book has been revised and reprinted numerous times since the 1st edition in 1972 and, even to this day, continues to be used as practical and teaching material in culinary institutions around the English-speaking world. As a Weightwatchers member and reader of Weightwatchers cookbooks, I enjoyed this book. There are many lovely winter recipes. This would appeal to people who enjoy cooking and can be adapted to fit in with families by adding extra vegetables etc. Personally, I sometimes find the portions a little small but as many recipes are for 4 persons, you could use the recipe to serve 2 and still fit the points into your daily allowance.

A christmas companion is a beautifully illustrated, easy to read aid to a perfect family christmas. It is full of simply yet mouth watering recepies which will suit any budget. As a mother of two young children I was able to prepare fabulous food in minutes. The arts and crafts pages are easy to follow, so easy in fact my 3 year old son and I had great fun making the christmas crackers. I would recommend this book to any family who want to have a traditional yet simple christmas in a world where 24 hour days just does not seem long enough.

This is a great little book, with many nice, simple, traditional recipes available for all to try. Some of my favourites in here including the Arroz con Leche, Gazpacho Rojo and Filloas de Mexilóns among others. The recipes are split into 11 chapters, each representing a different region(s). Including Galicia, Andalusia and Navarre and Aragon. The introduction explains the different regions of Spain. My only reservation about this book is that it is a bit short and not enough recipes! But seriously, there is no real information about the author and the introduction is a bit short, but I can live without them. Lovely!
