This is a great book but if you, like me, cannot use alcohol even in cooking (Yes, I KNOW the alcohol burns off, some of us shouldn't even taste it!) then the majority of the hot recipes you simply cannot make. Delia does state that, for the cakes, orange juice can be used instead of liquour. But, otherwise, almost all the other dishes involving meat (aside from the traditional turkey, of course) are soaked in the stuff! For that reason I recommend Nigella Lawson's 'Nigella Christmas' a little more. Nigella always tries to provide an alternative to the alcohol, something Delia doesn't do outside of the baking section. (But then we know Delia likes a drink!) This is a beautiful book packed with both clear and concise instructions for creating both familiar and unusual blooms in sugar. The familiar rose, iris, magnolia and orchid all appear in fantastic detail alonside a range of succulents and wonderful plants with names such as akebia, rothmania and tweedia to name only a few! Trust me they might not be instantly recognisable but their colour shape and form make welcome additions to accompany our well loved favourites. Alan Dunn fans will certainly not be disappointed. There is plenty of new material to enjoy and marvel at. Sections on creating wonderful arrangements are a welcome addition to give ideas for displaying all the flowers and foliage. A very 'girly' style cake book, with plenty of colour, ruffles and prettiness... Most of the designs are pretty foolproof and so would suit beginners or amateur bakers very well, but are useful for professionals too!

I ordered this one three seperate times from amazon stores before eventually recieving my copy through amazon but I tell you it was well worth the wait! This has to be my most recommended book for people who enjoy home baking! This book contains almost any biscuit recipe you can think of and also includes savoury crackers, muffins, scones and traybakes! It has a lovely section at the front which gives you some insigt into the history of cookies and biscuits. I haven't put this one down since buying it! If you are going to buy one book dedicated to baking cookies buy this one!(it even gives you hints on wrapping and packaging biscuits as gifts!!

This is the second book of the series, and as ever is fantastic. The book is slighty more advanced than the first is is packed full of very useful and help step by step tips. There are sections all about chocolate, embroidery, making flowers, recipes, runouts, figure piping, bas relief, marzipan....I could go on because the techniques are endless. A must have for a cake maker or someone who just wants to try different methods and styles.

I had heard of this book a few years back when my son was 2. For his 3rd birthday party, I made a whole host of scrumptious food from the book, which not only looked fabulous, but was very easy to do, and tasted absolutely fantastic. Lots of healthy, fun and delicious recipes for all the family to enjoy.I also used this book for my daughter's 1st birthday party, and everyone loved it! I already have Annabel's 'baby and toddler cook book' and the 'meal planner' and I had absolutely no doubt in my mind that Annabel Karmel's Complete Party Planner was the only one I wanted to use for my children's parties! Thanks Annabel! Looking forward to the next book!

This book makes you into someone who can wow! your friends... With really good looking, taste, but so so simple... The book is laid out with easy too follow instructions... Sometimes only four easy steps... As I said its Stir Frying For Idiots, and the lazy or persons with no free time... It even tells you what type of wok to buy, and how to look after it!
