I own this book, and I have to say that this is the best. The puff pastry recipe is remarkable, and many of the recipes turn out well. If you want to have professional recipes, this is the one.

This book has no conversion table for readers in Europe and it also uses expensive ingreadients. I always get dissapointed when buying books from the U.S. I suggest you stay clear of this book and buy something by Gordon Ramsay or Jamie and just make the dishes smaller thats what Rick Tramonto has done. Further more to have scallops and lobster on as amuse is quite expensive, a cook normally uses what he has left over to make amuse bouche and not many people have scallops or lobster lying around in the fridge.

This is a traditional Christmas recipe book, simply adjusted lsightly for the aga. Not much here you won't find elsewhere. The little bits of Christmas facts at the end of each section are trivial and rather irritating, and the photography is terrible - rather than taking pictures of the food, there are pictures of the ingredients - as if you didn't know what sprouts or carrots look like. Anyway, it's OK, but you'd be better off looking at, say, Delia's Christmas for recipes and adapting them yourself.

I bought this book as my son's 7th birthday is fast approaching and I realised that I could only remember a few party games that I did as a child. This book has proved to be a real life-saver - it is set out in groups of different ages which is great as my 4 year old daughter is having some friends at the party too. Each double spread page is set out with the typical age group, the optional ages (good when there are mixed ages at the party!), how many players are needed, and what the object of the game is. It then describes in detail what is needed, as well as optional changes you could make and trouble-shooting tips. Excellent cake book. I had not attempted to make birthday cakes before I purchased this book and now I feel like an expert! This book gave clear and easy instructions on how to bake cakes, make icing, butter icing, fairy cakes etc. Highly recommended!!

the amusing introduction to this book, full of family anecdotes and bon mots, sets the tone very well. it's a fun read, each recipe prefaced with a little description of the dish. I've already cooked a few and found them simple to prepare and most importantly absolutely delicious!! I would definitely reccommend this book for anyone - I love cooking but even if I didn't, the 'with booze' aspect would definitely appeal! The recipes are mouth watering, and it's just the right size to dip in to without being too daunting. a real treat, not to be missed.
