This book is wonderful, imaginative, easy to read and understand. I also found it entertaining, for a 'non cook' that is praise indeed! Although I am no great cook, I do keep chickens for eggs, the wife wont let me eat them, (yet!)I do grow lots of stuff, and much of this is credited to the Author. A man who cherishes his food and where it comes from, and how. This book comes close to being my Bible

I've ordered quite a few veggie cookbooks lately and now that I've got this one - I won't give it up!! It's packed full of recipes and has great colour shots (helpful to see what your cooking is supposed to look like). The first 125 pages or so is all about nutrition and the different food groups. Every recipe has a breakdown - calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates. There is such a huge variety of recipes and all of the additional information you get with this book is priceless!!

I actually bought this book for my Dad who loves Johnny Scott's fantastic witty writing style. However it never even got to the wrapping stage. I love the fact that he is keeping a tradition alive. My boyfriend and I have cooked for all my friends and he is very proud to show off his new found skills. The cooking section is very good but very same same as other books. What makes the book more special and worth buying is the personable and charming of Johnny Scott. Thankyou very much

The good points of this book are loads of info on nutrition, simple to follow recipes, easy to find ingredients, and it doesn't rely much on fake meats either, unlike many other vegan cookbooks. However, being a bit more experienced at cooking, I felt it wasn't really aimed at me. While it's certainly more of a book for beginners and is therefore ideal for any new vegan, there are still admittedly few things, though not that many, that might appeal to a more experienced cook. I have only given it 4 out of 5, because there really should be a subtitle stating that it is a book for beginners.

When I bought this book I was hoping for a book with simple easy to make recipes (soups should be easy I think). Some of the recipes are just too overcomplicated.

I use this book all the time and several recipes have become staple meals in our house, try the cauliflower cheese soup - so easy but utterly delicious; or the baked cod on spring onion mash - real gastropub stuff but again so easy. And it's stuffed with little tips which influence your own cooking - I always do my roast potatoes a la Nick now! This book has really made me fall in love with cooking.

This was my first Ramsay cookbook and after using the recipes in here for a highly successful dinner party for friends, I am now a devoted Gordon Ramsay follower. His recipes are detailed, his advice authoritative and the presentation and layout is spot on. Contrary to one of the previous reviews, there are plenty of pictures in this book and if a hopeless cook like myself can create these recipes to perfection (whilst also managing to satisfy and impress an extremely fussy Italian friend), there's hope for EVERYONE! This book comes highly recommended! Enjoy!

I have been vegetarian for 25 years, this is the best cookery book I have seen in that time. There's lots for vegans too. From Greece to Japan, all very clear recipes with amusing and interesting comments from Madhur....I really can't recommend it enough, if you're new to vegetarian/ vegan cookery this is the best book to buy!!!
