After a glass of pinot grigio or chianti I enjoy cyber shopping and have an embarrassing collection of cookery books, mostly destined for the charity shops. Every now and again I stumble on a classic that I will cherish and recommend. Marcella Hazan is not a celeb. tv chef and her book of 722 pages is soft back, on standard paper and without pictures. Having enjoyed universal success with several of her classic recipes you will realise that the glossy promoted cookery books deliver for the coffee table, not the dining table. I've bought a second copy of this book for a friend. You won't be disappointed.

I just love this book. It is full of yummy recipes with lovely colour photographs and the actual recipes are easy to make and each one I have cooked has turned out first class. There is a good selection of recipes which are divided into catergories, which include, poultry, meat, pulses, vegetables, sweets etc.

There are no fussy ingredients which one cannot find, and the cooking method is pretty straightforward. This has to be my favourite curry book by far. I am a very satisfied customer!

THIS COOKBOOK IS FANTASTIC AS IS INA GARTEN., THE RECIPES AND METHODS ARE EASY TO FOLLOW., PLEASE TRY THE COEUR A LA CREME' RECIPE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION, IT IS FABULOUS AND CAUSED QUITE A SENSATION WHEN I MADE IT FOR SOME CLOSE FRIENDS., I HAVE FOUND THAT OVERALL THE INGREDIENTS INA USES CAN BE PURCHASED AND CERTAINLY SUBSTITUTED WITH BRITISH INGREDIENTS, PERHAPS SOMETIMES WITH A LITTLE TRIAL AND ERROR BUT THAT'S THE PLEASURE OF COOKING, BUT, ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL. I AM NOW AWAITING DELIVERY THE LAST BOOK IN MY COLLECTION (PARTIES) THEN I ALMOST HAVE THEM ALL. ANYWAY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..SHE'S MY HEROINE BRILLIANT........

This little book is packed full of delicious, authentic tasting recipes which are easy to follow and reproduce. My husband, who NEVER cooks, loves making the lemon & garlic chicken for the BBQ and my favourite are the meatballs with lemon, yoghurt sauce.
Mouthwatering soups, salads, dips, meat or veggie dishes, finished off with yum desserts all of which are light, healthy and full of fresh ingredients.
Although these books are published in Australia, the glossary in the back provides a clear explanation in the different terms (i.e Zucchini = Courgette).
I learnt to cook with the Australian Womens Weekly and thoroughly recommend any of their books.

What a beautiful book! I have coveted the large format version of this book for some time Grand Livre De Cuisine: Alain Duccasse's Culinary Encyclopedia but I could not justify the price. In this format the book is just as beautiful and now affordable.

It is presented as an encyclopaedia of ingredients with recipes to cook them. Beginning with Acacia blossom, artichokes and asparagus ending with wood pigeon, woodcock and zucchini. There are for example 20 individual Asparagus recipes each complete with full colour pictures, a huge 29 Sea Bass recipes.

The recipes are clearly presented, well laid out, each one with a picture of the finished dish with presentation instructions. The book does assume a high level of culinary ... Read More:

This recipe book is a superb addition to anyone's culinary library - clearly not every recipe will suit every person but it is inconceivable that you would not find a significant number of useful recipes in here and even if you found just one nugget, then considering the price, it would be well worth it.

The variety of recipes in the 1000 series is simply staggering - to say you are stuck for choice is an understatement. And there is a vegetarian section in this too which is an extremely useful feature.

Ok, so there are no photographs but against that, the books don't cost a fortune either and they are compact.

You really cannot go wrong with any of these recipe books and when you consider they cost little more than 1 issue of pretty much ... Read More:

As someone who has recently come to back to cooking after too many years of ready made meals, I don't consider myself a natural cook so this book has done wonders for my cooking confidence! These recipes are easy to follow & not only do they taste fantastic but they actually turn out looking just like the mouth watering photos! Its an honest down to earth book full of very tasty recipes for food I grew up on. The ingredients are stuff you have probably already got in your kitchen, as long as you have a decent stock of herbs and spices you'll be fine. I've now bought more of James Martin's recipe books and I LOVE cooking again.
