I love this book - everything I have made from it has come out as it should have! The ingredients aren't too exotic, and there's a good variety of recipes. There is a good mixture of simple and fancy things to make.
The only difficulty I had was that quite a few of the recipes contained nuts (I live with someone with an allergy) but in a lot of cases the nuts weren't a crucial part of the recipe anyway.
I love this series of books, and this is my favourite so far!

Some people can't spend hours in the kitchen preparing gourmet meals every day, and some people just don't want to be stuck in there. For those people, and everyone else this is a great book to have at hand.

If you liked the first "Meals in Minutes" from Ainsley then, like me, you'll find this a welcome addition to your collection. With 80 more extremely well presented recipes to salivate over and enjoy, the majority of which take only around half-an-hour to prepare and cook, this book is superb.

As is customary nowadays we are provided with the nutritional notes per serving for each of the recipes. This is great as it helps you make a conscious choice to eat healthier by letting you know what, for example, the fat content ... Read More:

I'm very happy that Darina Allen compiled this book. It sets the scene of a way of life that my father used to tell me about - teacakes cooked on the griddle, potato cake, real Irish stew - and, of course, champ! In a wonderful introduction, Allen describes the advent, if you can call it that, of so-called "fancy shop-bought things" and how this began the decline of traditional recipes. What follows is a labour of love for Allen, a compilation to salvage over 300 recipes that reflect the Irish way of life, its farming heritage and cooking skills. The book is complete with wonderfully evocative photography and notes. And having tried some of them, I can vouch that the recipes are easy and tasty.

Having just reared and slaughtered our second lot of pigs this book is everything I need to explore the countless possibilities with pork - beautifully presented and written, everytime I pick it up to glance at a recipe I find myself still reading it an hour later enthralled.
Check out the black pudding and autumn fruits. All in all a stunning book which should be on every pork lovers kitchen table

I have enjoyed using this book & the results have been great with all of the recipies I've tried so far. There is a big section at the beginning of book about the Ingredients used in Indian cooking with great tips on where to find the spices & vegetables that are more difficult to find. The recipes are easy to follow (although some are complex, so make sure you read it all before starting) I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to improve their cooking repertoire.

I absolutley love this book - so much that I keep giving it as a gift and reccomending it to friends over and over again. I've travelled through many of the countries in the book and the writers tales of how they came across each dish really bring back memories of my own adventures and the desire for new ones! It's essentially a culinary travelogue. Also fantastic are their vegetarian adaptions of classically meat dishes which I was unable to try on my travels as I'm vegetarian but can now attempt at home. The photographs of the locations and the food are inspiring and the recipes easy to follow. I've used the book for casual meals and dinner parties alike.

I have not read too much of Jay Rayner's work in the papers, or his novels, so this is my introduction to the man and his appetite. I completely fell in love with his writing - I think he has the most beautiful, original, and apt turn of phrase of any food writer I can think of today. And so funny! It must take him days to think up some of those lines. They continue to give me pleasure now.

But he has a lot of acute and important observations to make about the fine dining restaurant business, and like another reviewer, I was particularly appreciative of his comments re: Ramsay et al, and global brand domination, and insights into the dubious world of the Moscow restaurant scene. This all sounds very dull - in his skilled hands, it really isn't, it's absolutely compelling, and ... Read More:
