I am American and I assure anyone who wants authentic American classic baking, this is THE book to have! I love to bake and have always preferred old fashioned recipes over more modern ones. There is something so comforting and pleasing about a dense and moist cake that tastes like it was Grandmother's special recipe. This book offers that and more. If you like maraschino cherries as much as i do (which is a lot!) DO try the maraschino cherry cake, HEAVENLY! I could sit here and rave all day long about how great this book is. Buy it, enjoy it and share your efforts with friends and family as I do. They will be most impressed! Thank you Jim Fobel for such lovely family recipes that are so delicious and a joy to make!

Wow! What can I say. This book has to have some of the most inspirational vegetarian recipes I have ever seen. I've just had great reactions at a dinner party to the Oyster Mushrooms in Ginger Butter that I cooked from a recipe in this book, and I have to agree with them. The recipes are not necessarily the quickest to prepare, but if they all taste as good as the mushrooms, then the extra time taken to put them together will be worth it. Since buying this book, my plans for this year now include a trip to Cork to sample the delights of this restaurant.

About 3 years ago I bought "Sushi for Dummies" and used it as a guide to many successful sushi dinners. It is a great book and goes into much detail. Recently I wanted to start making sushi again and have bought a few more books. I bought the Sushi Cookbook and upon reading it, I see how much detail it leaves out. The book has lots of nice photos, but glosses over almost every topic. I was quite surprised. If you are a first timer and want a lot of great tips, I feel Sushi for Dummies is much more useful. There are less pretty photos in Sushi for Dummies, but the information is far more helpful.

I've only recently bought this book, but have already cooked a recipe from it. When I flicked through it in a shop a little while ago I thought it would be the ideal cookbook to have for quick reference (like the Delia Smith chocolate, italian, pork etc collections). Like another reviewer said, this cookbook is full of many ideas that others books already contain. However, if you're in a rush, want a quick easy meal with ingredients already in your cupboard, and you basically know what you fancy, then this book is ideal. I bought it for that reason and think it will live up to its purpose. For midweek meals when you havent got time to plan or flick through your other cookbooks this is ideal. His style of cooking is amazing I am never disapointed with the food. We eat the Bill Granger way nearly everyday now. I feel so much healthier and energized by the food I now cook. Everybody needs at least one of Bill's books, one book and your hooked. I am now collecting them all. So come on Bill more books please.

I felt the need to stretch my cookery limbs and have a change from asian-inspired meals, and this book jumped off the shelf at me. There's a range of simple, well-described and beautifully photographed recipes, ranging from quick meals to slow-cooked tagines. Some of the ingredients used aren't really to my taste (e.g. prunes and apricot in savoury dishes), but the recipes work great and still have plenty of flavour without them. The spiced cous-cous and rice meals are very filling and always go down well.

I knew there was something more to Japanese food than sushi and I found this a new beginning into 1) Japanese lifestyle 2) Japanese home cooking. I found the stories behind the food interesting and they've certainly stuck in my memory. This doesn't just deal with not getting fat but also looking better for longer which is related to nutrition. Highly enjoyable and very readable.
