I bought this book after reading a review in one of the Sunday papers. It is a gem. It presents the authentic face of modern Spanish cooking and it's influences, as well as a comprehensive selection of older classics. In addition, in this English edition, it takes time to explain terms and techniques that you might not be familiar with.

It makes a great present in that not only is it beautifully written, but also features some great illustrations.

Above all, it contains recipes that are "do - able". Think not of Roux/Ramsey/Blanc, but more Delia Smith and above all Nigel Slater.

Overall, a superb introduction to Spanish cooking presented in a stylish way, which I cannot find fault with.

I already had several of Delia's books, and I didn't really think I needed another. I received this book as a gift at christmas, and like many of the other reviewers have already said, it really is fantastic.
Her recipes are as always easy and simple to follow, written in such a way that inspires, even the most novice of cooks.

I have a library of over 100 'cookery'and recipe books. Some are classics and some are useless, but, over the years, I keep returning to just three of them (the other two are Nigel Slater's Real Cooking and Ken Hom's Chinese Cookery). Yes, she can state the obvious. Yes, she can be irritatingly twee: "What you do then is...". But the recipes work, they taste really good, and her advice is always 100% sound. If I could only have one cook book, it would be this.

After years of struggling for hours, stirring and stewing leaden dishes with heavy spices, it has been the most enormous relief to find this wonderful book. We ate at Benares and I bought the book as soon as I knew it existed. Since then I have cooked most of the recipes in it. They are short, clear and uncomplicated. I usually have most of the ingredients in the house or in the immediate vicinity of where I live, which makes the recipes ideal. I have fed happy vegetarians and vegans as well as the usual carnivores. I particularly like the ease with which you can produce five or six different dishes so that people can help themselves to an array of flavours, and all without it being hard labour. This is among my top three recipe books now and I recommend it with ... Read More:

I love this book - everything I have made from it has come out as it should have! The ingredients aren't too exotic, and there's a good variety of recipes. There is a good mixture of simple and fancy things to make.
The only difficulty I had was that quite a few of the recipes contained nuts (I live with someone with an allergy) but in a lot of cases the nuts weren't a crucial part of the recipe anyway.
I love this series of books, and this is my favourite so far!

I love Indian food and thought it was about time that I bought a decent book and learned how to it myself.

I've never heard of Camellia Janjabi, but the glowing reviews from Pat Chapman and Nidel Slater convinced me to buy it.

I've only tried the basic home curry (the first recipe in the book) and amazed myself - it was delicious!!

Can't wait to try all the other ones.

I bought this book because I wanted to improve my cooking skills and enjoy home cooked French food. I found the recipes very easy to follow with great end results. There are two and three course menu suggestions for different occasions at the back of the book which is a great idea.

This must be for people who have already eaten at Moro or in Andalusia - despite being a good cook I cannot make these recipes taste good. There are far better (but less trendy) Spanish/Moroccan books by any of the following food writers (as opposed to chefs-of-the-moment): Elizabeth Luard, Penelope Casas, Paula Wolfert; all keepers, unlike this one! In its favour, the reference section is reasonably helpful & the pics are intermittently charming. The paper stock stains & dissolves very easily - not great for a bone fide cook book, eh?
