This is an excellent book. I have made quite a few of the recipes and every one has been a winner. I have used the sweet cream bases and created my own flavours based on their recommendations. Please make sure that you whip the cream as the book doesn't state that you have to! All receipes are very simple and easy to follow.

If you're hunting for a cupcake book for decoration ideas, this is the book for you. There's only a few sponge recipes at the beginning, which then includes the different frosting and icing that can be added to create the finished article. The rest of the book is about the different decoartion designs that can be incorporated to suit every occassion - not the type of book for someone like me if you wanted simple cupcake recipes.

Oh my god this is great for the beginner, I am just starting out and have gone Orgaic, this gave me so many great ideas, its a little bit of the quick version, you use a lot of ready made custard and ready made chocolate, but to start with thats what you want and if you want to that can be substituted for home maded custard base, great intro and large section on ice-cream such puddings like chocolate banana ice cream pie, and baked alaska!!! --- I whole heartedly recommend this book, so cheap but a real Gem!!!

This is a beautiful book packed with both clear and concise instructions for creating both familiar and unusual blooms in sugar. The familiar rose, iris, magnolia and orchid all appear in fantastic detail alonside a range of succulents and wonderful plants with names such as akebia, rothmania and tweedia to name only a few! Trust me they might not be instantly recognisable but their colour shape and form make welcome additions to accompany our well loved favourites. Alan Dunn fans will certainly not be disappointed. There is plenty of new material to enjoy and marvel at. Sections on creating wonderful arrangements are a welcome addition to give ideas for displaying all the flowers and foliage. If your looking for inspiration for 'party puddings' this is the book for you! Well illustrated,as are all Dorling Kindersley publications.Clear well laid out instructions and excellent photographs of the finished product. Ideal for the novice or the experienced cook.Already a favourite on my bookshelf!

A very ordinary collection of average recipes. Contains a few classics but nothing to inspire. I bought Gordon Ramseys pudding book at the same time and it knocks the spots of this.

A very 'girly' style cake book, with plenty of colour, ruffles and prettiness... Most of the designs are pretty foolproof and so would suit beginners or amateur bakers very well, but are useful for professionals too!

Just Desserts, is written by the accomplished and talented three Michelin star chef Gordon Ramsey. As the name suggests, it's a cook book filled with recipes for the best part of a meal - - desserts. It is the first book written by Gordon Ramsay I've ever purchased, and if his other books are as impressive as this one, then I guess I'll be buying the whole lot. While it's not the single best cook book I've ever seen, it is definitely the best dessert book and puts all others to shame. Gordon Ramsay is very passionate about food in general, and while I don't really picture him being big on desserts, I found almost all his desserts to be... mouth-watering to say the least, even the desserts I don't like, sound and look great. No matter how many pounds you expend on this book you will get them all back, and more! They may not be the kind of pounds you want, but as you're standing on the scales seeing another stone clock up, you will, at least, be happy! These recipes are so feel-good! I mean, I never had 'Oatmeal Muffins' before but I feel like I've been eating them all my life, so nostalgic i feel munching into one. The recipes are fairly simple, and they always seem to work. The cakes are invariably FANTASTIC. Try the apple and walnut butterscotch layer cake. gee, that sure is the kind of cake momma used to make. What am I talking aabout? I don't speak like that.... but this book makes me, so good are these cakes.

This book should really be called '101 Fruit Dessets' - the majority of receipes use fresh fruit and had I known this, I would not have purchased it! I'm a big fan of the 101 series as the recipes really do work and the books are a real bargain considering what you get! However, unless you're after a book of fruit desserts, I would say buy 101 Chocolate Treats or 101 Cakes & Bakes both of which have an enormous variety of cakes, biscuits and indulgent desserts to try!
