The book size is a disappointment but for a very small book the content is an interesting combination of recipes with quite a lot of different styles. The instructions are clear if you like to use US cups, but the book quality was initially disappointing with the only picture on the cover.

I'm a AWW fan - yummy, easy, reliable recipes. This has recipes you really want to try - passionfruit and coconut creme brulee; ripe cherry cheesecake; lemon curd crepe cake; chocolate jaffa tart; peanut butter and fudge ice cream pie; margarita mousse - need I go on? Also excellent section on chocolate and sugar syrup basics plus how to look after a candy thermometer. Recommended.

I have baked the oatcakes, scone pizza and the ingenious Victoria Sponge - (brilliant recipe - easiest ever - start by warming the eggs in their shells and no tedious creaming together of fat and sugar - just whisk together the flour and sugar - perfect cake at end of all this!). My daughter age 9 won second prize at the local show with the Rock bun recipe - She is convinced she could have had first had I taken the buns out of the oven sooner!!!! My mother however has had the best results of all of us at the show, competing as part of the WRI and achieving a near perfect mark for the Strawberry Tarts! What more can I say!

An absolute must from the master himself. This book is well laid out with very well written recipes as well as excellent practical advice on all aspects of baking and desserts. There is also a brilliant section on making chocolate and sugar decorations. As an experienced cook I found it simple to follow, but feel sure that with the fabulous explainations of each step, even an absolute beginner could cope very well indeed. Dont let the fact that its written by one of the greatest pastry chefs put you off! It is not intimidating at all but rather like having a kind teacher at your shoulder helping you all the way. This little book is full of great tasting flavours from the "chocolate" to "Rum and Rasin" there is definetly something for everyone in this great book! There are some major flaws most of the ice creams take a few hours to make plus freezing time. It is also very recomended that you own an ice cream maker as it is very difficult without one.
